Chp. 13) A Spark of Rivalry, Andrew Versus Cassandra!

"Butterfree, use air slash!" Cassandra ordered. Butterfree began flapping its wings, and visible streaks of air could be seen flying towards Andrew's Ekans.

"Charge forward Ekans!" Andrew demanded. His Ekans slithered across the battlefield, all while dodging the visible slashes of air. Everytime the slashes of air passed by Ekans, it would hit the ground and cause a small explosion of dust clouds. Ekans was charging towards Butterfree, and was getting closer by the second.

"Grr," Cassandra grunted in frustration. "Butterfree fly up so Ekans won't reach you!" She said. Butterfree followed Cassandra's orders, and flew up into the sky.

"Ekans," Andrew called out. "Use poison sting, and shoot Butterfree out of the sky!" Ekans then halted to a stop, and began shooting thin white needles at Butterfree. The needles made contact with Butterfree, and created an explosion. Butterfree fell out from the cloud of smoke, and was headed towards the ground of the battlefield.

"Surprise them with string shot!" Cassandra commanded. Butterfree opened its eyes and somersaulted in the air, before firing off a thick web-like string with its mouth towards Ekans.

"Nice try," Andrew said with a smirk on his face. "Ekans, get to Butterfree using that string!" Ekens dodged the string and it twisted its body around the string, and started going up towards Butterfree using the string.

"You've fallen into our trap," Cassandra said with a confident smile, and while making a fist in front of her face. "Use psybeam Butterfree!" Butterfree then fired off rainbow rings in the form of a beam, and in the middle of the beam was the string that Butterfree was still holding.

"Wha-?!" Andrew exclaimed. Ekans was still climbing the string, heading straight towards Butterfree's attack. Andrew then suddenly had a look in his eyes, he smirked with confidence. He's up to something, but what could it be that he is planning. "Ekans, stretch your body out while still twisting it around the string!" He said. Ekans obeyed, and started uncurling its body from a twisted clump. It's body seemed skinnier from doing this, and it kinda reminded me of a barber's pole with Ekans twisting its body around the string. The rainbow ring beam that Butterfree was using then covered where Ekans was slithering. Ekans was now inside of the attack, and still making its way towards Butterfree.

"What the," Cassandra said in confusion. "How?!"

"Your trap was clever, but Ekans is skinny enough when its body isn't curled up to go through," Andrew explained to Cassandra. "Now Ekans, use poison sting!" Ekans was really close to Butterfree, and Ekans fired off thin white needles at it. The needles made contact with Butterfree, and this caused an explosion. Butterfree fell from the black smoke cloud, and Ekans followed in pursuit. "Immobilize it with wrap, don't let Butterfree take advantage of you while you're in the air!" Ekans dove towards Butterfree, and wrapped its body around its target. Butterfree tried to struggle and get Ekans off of it, but nothing was working. Eventually, the two pokemon landed on the ground, and this created a large dust cloud. The dust finally cleared after about a minute, and Ekans was still holding onto Butterfree. Butterfree however, was motionless. Its eyes were glowing on and off repeatedly.

"Butterfree is unable to battle, Ekans is the winner!" Lt. Surge announced. Ekans uncurled itself and let go of Butterfree's body.

"Return Butterfree," Cassandra said while returning her pokemon to its pokeball. She then stared at the pokeball which held her fainted Butterfree. "I'm sorry." She said. Cassandra then put that pokeball away, and grabbed a new one. "Ivysaur, I need your help!" She yelled. Cassandra's Ivysaur popped out of its pokeball, and posed as if to signal that it was ready to battle.

"Battle," Lt. Surge began. He had his arm raised, and he was ready to send it down. "Begin!" Lt. Surge then chopped the air in front of him.

"Ekans, charge in and use poison jab!" Andrew demanded. Ekans slithered towards Ivysaur, and the tip of its tail began glowing purple. Ekans then proceeded to get into the air, and flipped its body so that its glowing tail was in front of it.
