Chp. 14) Bonding Begins with Battling; Krabby's Debut

"The battle can begin once both trainers bring out their pokemon!" Lt. Surge announced.

"Klink, I choose you!" Dylan shouted while throwing a pokeball. A pokemon in the shape of two gears appeared, they spun in sync with each other. I pulled out my pokedex. The pokemon is a steel type known as Klink, and it is known for generating electricity from its body despite not being an electric type.

"Krabby, let's do this!" I yelled while throwing Krabby's pokeball. Krabby appeared from its pokeball, clamping its pinchers while walking sideways back and forth.

"Battle," Lt. Surge began. He raised his hand in the air while looking at both my opponent and I. "Begin!" Dylan then pointed at my Krabby without saying a word, and his Klink charged towards Krabby.

"Use gear grind!" Dylan finally shouted. Klink's gear-like body then separated and surrounded Krabby. The two gear parts then closed in on Krabby, and they grinded against Krabby. Krabby was sent sliding backwards, eyes winching in pain.

"Krabby, use mud shot!" I commanded. Krabby fired off three muddy balls from its mouth, aiming them at Klink.

"Now, use charge!" Dylan demanded with his hand stretched out. Klink's body began spinning its gears so fast that it began creating electricity. The electricity surrounded Klink's body, and Krabby's mud shot made contact with Klink, creating black smoke. The smoke cleared, and Klink looked as if it didn't take any damage at all. Dylan smirked, all while having his hand on his waist.

"What the-!" I said in shock.

"Charge increases the user's special defense," Dylan explained. "And it increases electric type moves right after using them!" He then pointed at Krabby while grinning. Dylan's Klink began producing more electricity, as if it was ready to attack soon. "Use thunder shock on this amateur!" He mockingly shouted. A large streak of electricity came flying towards Krabby.

"Krabby, dodge that by using water gun!" I demanded quickly. Krabby pushed its own body backwards while shooting a large stream of water, dodging the streak of electricity that struck the ground and caused an explosion of smoke.

"Use gear grind again!" Dylan ordered. Klink's two gear parts separated, and spun towards Krabby.

"Get ready to use metal claw," I said while getting an idea. Klink's gear parts came closer, and spun even faster than before. Everything suddenly felt like time slowed down. Klink's gear parts were in front of Krabby, and Krabby was preparing its pincers. "Krabby, use metal claw!" I shouted. Krabby's pincers were suddenly shrouded in a metallic glow, and Krabby caught Klink's gear parts with its pincers. Sparks were flying while Klink's body was grinding against Krabby's metallic pincers.

"Whaaa-!?" Dylan said with both worry and shock in his face

"Now I got you where I want you to be," I said with a smirk on my face. "Krabby, repeatedly use mud shot!" I demanded. Krabby fired off multiple balls of mud from its mouth, hitting and splashing onto Klink. Krabby, at some point, let go of Klink's body, and continuously fired off balls of mud. Krabby unleashed a giant ball of mud that made contact with Klink, causing a massive explosion of gray smoke. A few minutes later, the smoke cleared, and Klink's body was just laying on the ground. Klink's eyes were swirly, and this was on both faces.

"Klink is unable to battle," Lt. Surge declared. He then pointed towards me and Krabby; "Which means Krabby is the winner of this battle!" Krabby began celebrating by walking side to side while clamping its pinchers.

"Let's keep this momentum going Krabby!" I shouted.

"Don't get ahead of yourself!" Dylan said while returning his Klink to its pokeball. He pulls out another pokeball, and throws it. The pokemon that appears out of the pokeball is a Magnemite. Krabby stared down the opposing pokemon, ready to continue fighting.
