Chp. 12) Quarter Finals, Start!

Lenny and Lamar had reached the battlefield, both trainers holding a pokeball, and ready for their battle to begin. Andrew and I leaned over the balcony railing, now becoming pumped up with how this could go down.

"The battle can begin, as soon as both trainers bring out your pokemon!" Lt. Surge declared.

"Psyduck, your time to shine!" Lenny yelled while throwing out his Psyduck. When Psyduck came out of its pokeball, however; it was upside down, balancing on its head. Its body flopped backwards, causing Psyduck to lay on its back. A ton of people spectating began laughing hysterically. As this was happening, Psyduck began to get back onto its feet.

"That was rich kid," Lamar said while trying to stop giggling. "Now, Diglett, come help me out." He threw one of his pokeballs, and his Diglett appeared by popping out of the ground.

"Battle," Lt. Surge said while raising his hand up. "Start!" Lt. Surge then chopped the air in front of him, officially beginning the match.

"Diglett, use mud slap!" Lamar commanded. His Diglett shot out a stream of mud from its mouth towards Psyduck.

"Psyduck, use water gun!" Lenny shouted. His Psyduck shot a stream of water from its mouth. Both attacks passed by each other, and hit their targets. Diglett gets blasted in the face with a stream of water, and Psyduck gets knocked backwards with mud in its face. Diglett was panting from exhaustion, probably because it just took some super effective damage. Psyduck was wiping mud off of its face with its hands.

"You've put me in a difficult situation," Lamar said to Lenny while he was adjusting his top hat. "Diglett, ol' chap, use sandstorm!" Diglett went underground, and as soon as it did; a stream of sand started to blow around the battlefield. The pokemon were still visible to us, but it looked like it was hurting Psyduck.

"This could be bad for Lenny," Andrew exclaimed, he was clenching on the balcony railing with his hands. "Ground, rock, and steel types don't take any damage while in a sandstorm."

"Now that we've set up sandstorm," Lamar began to explain. "Diglett can take advantage of it with its ability!" Lamar then pointed at Lenny's Psyduck. "Diglett, use a sand force boosted mud slap!" Diglett then curled its head backwards, and fired off a giant stream of mud from its mouth.

"Psyduck, use water gun on the ground and get into the air!" Lenny demanded. Psyduck shot out water from its mouth, aiming it at the ground, causing it to gain momentum from its own attack and go up into the air. Psyduck was above the sandstorm now, after dodging Diglett's attack. "Now use screech!" Lenny said while waving his arm in front of him.

"Psy-DUUUUUUUUUCK!" Psyduck screeched, making visible sound waves, and aiming it towards Diglett.

"Diglett, dodge with dig!" Lamar responded in a worried fashion, while holding onto his top hat. Diglett went underground, while Psyduck's visible sound waves made a gap in the sandstorm where Diglett was.

"Zen headbutt, let's go Psyduck!" Lenny demanded. Psyduck started falling head first into the spot where it just screeched. Its head began to glow a light blue. Psyduck was about to land on the ground, and then Diglett pooped out. Both pokemon clashed their heads together, the impact causing wind and energy to blow everywhere. A few moments passed and Psyduck bounced backwards, and landed on its back. Diglett's head splattered on the battlefield ground. Psyduck's eyes were swirly, and Diglett was motionless.

"Both Diglett and Psyduck are unable to continue," Lt. Surge announced. He then made a t-pose-like motion. "This round is a draw!" Both Lenny and Lamar returned their pokemon without saying anything, and the sandstorm continued to rage around the battlefield.

"Alright, Sandslash, hit it!" Lenny said while throwing out his Sandslash.

"Sandshrew, I need your assistance!" Lamar said while throwing out a Sandshrew. Both pokemon stared down at each other intensely, waiting for their trainer's orders.
