I looked up at Alviss, who, from what I could tell, was being serious about me talking about my issues. Another gentlemanly act, but this time I was really considering following his lead. Not to let his act continue to where he wants it, but it would be a good chance to talk it out, maybe with someone who isn't biased like Steph was. I weighed the pros and cons, and I settled with spilling the details. Edited, of course.
"It's just high school drama, but some guys can be real idiots," I started off. This was to test if he really wanted to listen. If he did want to, then he would be able to look past the fact that it was 1) high school drama and 2) it was about another guy.
"High school is the drama magnet. You can't graduate without having some sort of drama that makes you think more than you should." I stared at Alviss, who was actually contemplating what he just said. He spoke the truth. I didn't know a single person who didn't have a piece of drama occur when they were in high school. Plus, with our current Gossip-money system, no one could get by without having something said about them. "So, is this guy your boyfriend?"
"I agreed to this date without threatening to sic my boyfriend on you, didn't I?" I quipped. It was true. If I was still dating Elliot, I would've threatened him with having Elliot hunt him down. But, I no longer had my guard dog. "He's my ex. I broke up with him earlier this week, and he didn't take well to it." I took another bite of my salad, but I glanced at Alviss' steak. It was almost gone already (once again, more like inhaled), and I still had about half of my salad to go. Oh, the joys of having a small stomach with a small frame.
"So, he hasn't done anything irrational, right? I mean, since the instant you broke up with him, he hasn't done something completely stupid that would utterly embarrass himself, right?" I looked down at my dinner, thinking of how he kissed that one girl who was in the hallway as an act of revenge. She enjoyed it, and it drove me up a wall that he would go so low. I guess that counted as stupid, right? "Alright, let me ask you this," he continued, "What's he like? How were you two when you dated? Was he a good kisser?"
"HOLD IT!" I yelled, much too loud in an Applebee's, but it shut Alviss up pretty quick. "I said I would talk about it, not answer silly questions like that!"
"Fine, then take them from our game. But these are serious questions that can figure that guy out." Alviss looked serious as he stared into my eyes. He gave a small sigh, then said, "Take it from someone that's seen many break-ups. I've had my fair share, and I've seen other guys have their fair share. But you yourself can't figure it out, so let me help you." He did have a valid point. Even if, for some reason, I didn't like the fact that he had his "fair share". This, however, brought me to another question.
"Alviss, how old are you?" He stopped midway from feeding his steak into his mouth and looked up at me. Wow, he looked cute with his eyes like that. Anyway, that was off topic. Alviss lowered his fork slightly, then smiled.
"Why do you ask?"
"It's just," I stammered. I didn't know how to answer that. I was just mainly curious, but he was obviously close to my age, but I hadn't seen him in school. The chance that he went to a neighboring high school was possible, but he didn't give the feeling of still being in school. "I don't think you're in high school, but you're close to my age, so you should be in high school or college. I'm just curious..." I trailed off.
