So, been a while, hasn't it? Well, I'm back with my muse, and I feel like I need to finish this. Of course, it might be a bit hard now. The flash drive i had all of the info on (character details, plot, organizer, etc.) has been corrupted, and trying to think of the stuff is a bit hard. But, I'm working on it. Anyway, this next chapter is a bit rusty and not as smooth, but hopefully it gets things rolling again. i'm so sorry for the wait. hmmm, i wonder how many people were actually looking forward to this?

Alviss stayed with me until my mom came back from work. While we waited, I called Steph to apologize for worrying her. She said it was alright, but when I said that Alviss was over, she told me I’d owe her some details. I could only groan, knowing full well that I probably had no way out of that. After I hung up, Alviss stood waiting for me, holding our (current) tub of cookie dough ice cream.
“It’s rude to raid people’s fridges without their consent,” I commented, putting my phone on the counter.
“Oh, and you don’t consent to a full, well, almost full, tub of ice cream with our names written on it?” He made me laugh, looking like a fool with the ice cream and two spoons with him. A smile appeared on my face as I walked to him, grabbed a spoon and stole the ice cream from his grasp. He was right, as usual. I needed this.
We managed to finish the tub while we watched the entire movie of Meet the Robinsons. Alviss pretty much laughed at me for wanting to watch it, but the dinosaur always makes me feel better. And after we finished it, I had Alviss admitting it was pretty funny. It then turned into who could make the best impression of the t-rex, which led to a competition of who would make a better dinosaur. We were in the middle of a discussion, or argument, of who would be better when my mother came home.
To say my mother was astounded to see Alviss here was an understatement. She didn’t seem to know what to think about the boy that was “playing with my heart”, as she put it, spending time with me, the empty ice cream tub, or Alviss’s shoes that were still on his feet. Alviss read the atmosphere quickly and decided to take his leave. I decided to walk him out, to get a quick moment alone with him outside of my mom’s view/wrath.
When we got outside my front door, I immediately got chills from the wind. My shirt obviously was not strong enough to protect me, but Alviss was. He came up to me as soon as the door closed and hugged me, holding me close and keeping me warm. I couldn’t tell if it was because he knew I was freezing, or if he felt he should hug me after a day like today. Either way, I accepted it graciously and hugged him back.
“Aww, you’re hugging me back!” he commented. Way to ruin the moment. “I thought you’d push me away or something.”
I resisted a laugh. “Shut up, you’re keeping me warm.” I could feel myself starting to shiver uncontrollably as the wind still managed to touch my skin. Alviss chuckled as he pulled us apart to run his hands up and down my arms to warm them up a bit. I looked up at him, noticing his eyes were once again dark. His hands that were keeping me warm slowly moved to my cheeks as he looked at me.
“Kora, I’m glad you’re alright.” His gaze seemed to go deep into my eyes, causing me to blush. He smiled noticing the redness show on my cheeks, then kissed my forehead like he did in my bedroom. When he pulled away, he looked at me then said, “Be safe. I don’t want to break down your door again.” I couldn’t help but laugh, then feel utter dread when I realized my mom would want to know what the hell happened. How was I going to explain this? During my thought processing, Alviss quickly left my side and went to his car. All I could do was stand in the frigid wind and watch him drive away. I couldn’t even wave. I’ll blame that on the cold weather.
When I walked back into the house, my mom was waiting for me. Judging by the way she stood, I could tell she wasn’t pleased with the current situation. “So,” she started off, “why was he here?” I could clearly hear the distain in her voice.
“He was helping me with something.” It wasn’t a lie, right?
“I thought you said you’d only see him to get your purse back, which you’ve already done. Why are you still interacting with him?”
“Mom,” I started, but I didn’t know how to finish. I took a moment to think of the right words. “Mom, he’s not as bad as I originally thought.”
She scoffed at what I said. “Kora, I know you. When your mind is made up, you don’t change it. But this, Alviss kid, stole your belongings, blackmailed you, and manipulated you. And he’s ‘not as bad’?!” I had to admit, she had a point.
“I guess he just really sucks at first impressions.”
“Sweetie, I SAW his first impression, when he walked into our home to take you on that God forsaken date.” Oh, yeah. “He had that nice attitude with the nice manners, all the while forcing you into a silly little game. He’s got first impressions down to a science.”
I sighed, realizing how similar my mom and I were. It was only natural, after the split my parents had. Mom never mentioned it much, but Daddy left before I was even born. I remember how I always wanted to listen to fairy tale stories, and when my mom read them to me, she seemed to mock the stories in a way. I didn’t know if my parents were the ones that caused me to believe that fantasy love was fake, but they definitely were proof that not everything lasts.
“Mom, I’m sorry. But I promise he wasn’t up to no good.”
She gave me that loving look every mother has, then came up to me to hug me. “Oh, sweetie, I’m just making sure you don’t get hurt. You’re my daughter, and Mama Bear’s got to protect her young.” We both smiled at each other.
“Thanks, Mom.”
“Now,” she said, back to her original tone of voice, “care to explain why you two decided to eat my ice cream?”
