Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty much the same as Monday. Hell. I had somewhat gotten used to being excluded in a lot of conversations, seeing as how the rumors just couldn’t stop being spread for a day. Everyone still ignored or avoided me, and whispers were flying everywhere. I was very glad to have Steph and the others with me, or else I might’ve gone insane from my new lack of a social life. Information of the photographer of the kissing picture was a dead end. No one knew who sent it. Whoever did it must’ve really done a good job with mixing up numbers so that no one could figure it out. So, because none of us could get a clue, we gave up on that. And Elliot and his new slut were still at it, from what I could tell. I could clearly see Annabelle trying to touch every part of Elliot’s body, practically asking him to take her, right then and there. Whenever I saw those two, I did my best to steer clear of their area, but a couple times I caught Elliot looking at me. It somewhat freaked me out, knowing he saw me watching them, but I continued to try and stay away.

Thursday gave me hope. Sure, it was still the middle of the week, but it meant that the next day was Friday, then the weekend again. Oh, how I needed it. Plus, by the time Thursday rolled around, the rumors stopped being the biggest news, and more people were focusing on Homecoming the following week. Boys were asking girls out, girls were planning what dresses to wear, and the student council was going crazy on the dance and decorations while the football team was getting hyped up. This year, our school was facing off an old rival that won our last homecoming game. It was a major disappointment for us, but apparently the coach felt it was the right time to challenge them again and make sure we won. At least our school had major spirit.

“Kora!!!” Steph called through the halls. I turned around, waiting for Steph to catch up to me. When she finally did, we both walked towards the cafeteria to get some food for lunch. “So, did you hear?” She asked, sounding excited.

“Hear what?”

“The new rumor!” Well, so much for people focusing less on rumors…

“What is it this time? Elliot and Annabelle already had sex?” I quipped sarcastically. Although, if they did have sex, I was almost positive they would have done it by now. While Elliot and I never did it, I knew he was a horny idiot who couldn’t stand not getting some action. After all, that was a major factor to why he cheated on me.

“Even better! Elliot’s tired of Annabelle!” I stopped in my tracks. Steph gave me the same expression I had: utter astonishment. Elliot liked girls with a huge sex drive, and Annabelle was like his personal holy grail. And the fact they had only been going out for almost a week was even weirder. But he was already tired of her? What was he thinking?

“How do you know that’s true?” I asked. We continued our brisk walk to get food. Our voices lowered while we were surrounded by people as we discussed this new development in the rumor mill.

“Several people had noticed that whenever Annabelle wants some attention, Elliot would give her just a little, not really paying attention to her. She’s been described as being extremely needy in the attention department.”

“Okay, but that really doesn’t mean that he’s tired of her,” I mentioned. While clinginess was something that Elliot did like in a girl (so he knew that they were interested in him), he was probably having an off day, or even thrown out of his house again. None of that really proved anything.

“Yes it does,” Steph argued. “Apparently, they had their first fight yesterday.” We were walking to our table, where it was going to be only me and her today. Morgan and Jessica were spending lunch studying for a test in their government class, so that meant us best friends could talk more closely. “The rumor got out that the fight was over Elliot not paying attention to her, obviously, but Elliot argued back that he just not into the relationship yet. Now, here’s the juicy part.” I leaned in closer to Steph, waiting for the best part. “Annabelle claimed Elliot wasn’t into her because he’s not over you yet.” My eyes widened in amazement. Steph was quiet, so that it could sink into my head a little bit more.
