Steve's couple weeks off were nearing their end, making YN sulk around the tower like a rainy cloud. Steve noticed her extreme downward spiral, a cloudy expression on her features wherever she went. Suggesting they do some baking, Steve prepared a bowl of ingredients as YN picked at her nails where she leant against the bench.
"Steve, is this a good idea?" She said, lifting her head up to stare at him. "Bucky said you're a terrible cook."
Steve scoffed, weighing some butter with precision. "That was nearly eighty years ago, YN. I think I've figured out how to make some simple cookies." YN nodded, watching with narrowed eyes as he sat the butter aside, lifting the electric beaters and sitting them into the completely dry ingredients still sitting alone in the bowl.
YN smirked, knowing what would happen if she said nothing. "If you say so, Cap." She snarked, watching him throw her a sarcastic smile before starting the electric mixer. As the mixer, already set on its highest speed, started turning erratically, the flour puffed up, covering Steve's face in the white dust. YN tried really hard not to burst out in hysterics, but her snorts soon broke free. She leant over the bench, hand on her chest as she laughed loudly, gasping for breath as quickly as it left her.
"You knew that was going to happen." Steve grunted after he'd switched off the offending beater, wiping flour from his face and shaking it from his hair. YN nodded, unable to respond just yet.
Breathing in a lung full of air and forcing it out slowly, YN calmed down. "I just didn't want to ruin your confidence, baby." Hobbling over, leaving her crutches behind, she nudged him with her hip and grabbed onto the bowl of butter and pouring into the awaiting flour. Adding the eggs and creamed sugar, YN started beating it together.
Steve watched as YN prepared the cookie batter, a weird domestic feeling settling into the air. Sighing, Steve moved to the fridge to grab a bottle of water. Looking at the grocery list on the fridge door, Steve smiled to himself, butterflies flitting away in his chest. Steve looked back toward his girl as she whistled away, wiggling her lower half happily as she spooned lumps of dough onto a tray.
Steve had had such an amazing couple of weeks off of work, finally having some time for himself and to do things he enjoyed. Especially meaning that he could spend said time with YN, whom he was pretty sure was his soulmate. Thinking about returning to his work made Steve think about what their relationship would look like when YN returned after next week.
"Hey," Steve said, coming up behind YN as she closed the door to the oven, wrapping his arms around her mid-section.
"Hi," YN replied, turning in his embrace to face the taller man.
"When you return to work," He started, swiping a bit of hair from her eyes. "Where will you be stationed?"
"Well, I haven't confirmed the return-to-work process yet, but I am pretty sure I'd return to the S.H.I.E.L.D facility to run comm's for a week before returning to the field." She said, resting her chin on his chest.
"I never asked, how come you reside at the facility?" Steve said, lifting YN by her waist to sit her on the newly cleaned bench.
"I never really thought about leaving. I don't own or lease any places, the only family I have is Fury and Coulson. I never really had a life outside of S.H.I.E.L.D." YN said, shrugging her shoulders.
Steve watched her for a few moments as she brushed remnants of his flour disaster off of his shirt. "Come live with me."
YN looked shocked, looking back into his eyes as her own grew wider. "What? In the tower?"
