the familiar warmth of blood enveloped the once cold hands of the slayer.
it was hatred and anger that fuelled her. perhaps she also wanted to provide herself with a false sense of comfort. comfort in the fact that she was strong and sensible, comfort in the fact that she was avenging those who required vengeance.
but was it really that way?
or was she murdering because she felt the urge to?
and murdering was her job, strictly speaking. she was meant to spend her nights killing. it was just that sometimes, she had no orders to follow.
and while killing demons brought on relief and even merriment, homicide was a hundredfold more fun. humans had more emotions, and more readable expressions. their heart rates would spike, and all the micro tremors, which weren't really "micro", would be on full-display for her to see.
but most importantly, demons hadn't directly wronged her. they weren't the reason the reason her family was dead.
it was her own species.
the killer thought that in slaying demons, she could save lives. but that wasn't directly going to do anything for their family. neither was killing humans, to be honest, but it was making them feel the suffering her parents and sibling had to.
she convinced herself she had good intentions, and that her motives were absolutely justifiable.
and they would be, had the above been her true reasons.
