What to call this chapter? How about ...

Awkward!

Adam woke up wrapped in the sheets, of an unknown bed.

He looked around, as he tried to recall last night; he remembered watching a movie in the TV room with the kids and Phoenix and then falling asleep.

Flashes of his dream caused him to halt mid-stretch and blush furiously. He covered his face in shame.

When he was done moping through his teenage crisis, he looked around again. Perhaps Phoenix had brought him to the guest bedroom upstairs.

He turned over, grabbed a pillow and took a deep breath.

He froze.

The pillow smelled like Phoenix.

Adam took another deep sniff.

'It can't be.'

He sat up and looked around the room properly and noticed the picture on the wall of Phoenix with Mira and the rest of the family as well as some posters and a clock that read 8:30 a.m.

Adam blinked vigorously, trying to think again of last night and, more specifically, how he ended up in Phoenix's room.

If he was in Phoenix's room, what could have happened last night?

Adam looked at the pillow he was cuddling and resisted the urge to bury his face in it again.

Suddenly, the door opened and Adam jumped, tossing the pillow aside as Phoenix opened the door.

He had earphones on and was looking at the ground so Adam assumed he hadn't noticed he was awake yet.

On the other hand, Adam had noticed all of him as Phoenix stood half-naked, exposing the quote tattooed across his back.

Amor Vincit Omnia

Adam noticed the Latin word Amor as love but he didn't know the rest. "What's your tattoo mean?"

Phoenix's back muscles tensed up and he didn't answer Adam for a while and Adam thought maybe he hadn't heard him properly. He sighed looking over his shoulder to where it was positioned.

"Love conquers all," Phoenix said curtly, going back to digging in his closet as if he was looking for something.

Adam cleared his throat and Phoenix looked at him briefly and then turned back around to close his cupboard with more force than necessary causing Adam to flinch.

He climbed out of the bed.

"Um, good morning," Adam said softly.

Phoenix brushed past him. "Morning."

Adam frowned, turning to follow Phoenix, who was busy plugging in his phone to the charger.

"Are you okay?"
