I couldn't just leave you hanging...
At least not yet

Adam's found but...
"I didn't think I'd ever see you back here, Morgenstern. You know, you were the finest cook we ever had in this here club."
Greg placed the glass of whiskey in front of Adam.
"Courtesy of the gentleman over there. He says he can see you had a bad day and you could use it more than him. Though, if I were you, I'd toss it to the side and wouldn't–"
Before he could finish, Adam drank the whiskey in one gulp. "Another," he said as he placed it down.
"Whoa, there buddy, that's your ninth already and I don't think I ever saw you drink. Rough day?"
Adam's vision doubled as he tried to pinpoint which was the real Greg. He gave up with an annoyed huff.
"Like you won't believe," he said sloppily.
He usually doesn't drink like this. He used to occasionally when he was younger and his older sister was around to chaperone but this time he felt like it was called for.
Greg was about to say something when he was called away by another patron.
Adam rolled his eyes and spun on his chair to face the stage.
Back in high school, when he would work here, he would usually be in the kitchen and, on odd occasions, a waiter when the club got busy. He used the job to get extra pocket money to save up for culinary school. Grace had said if he could buy the ticket for his flight to get to the school and transportation she would allow him to tap into the money his mother had left for him a little earlier than twenty-one.
Even though they had the money, Grace had wanted to teach him a lesson in life skills.
However, if she ever found out where he worked she probably wouldn't have allowed him to go at all.
Sometimes when he was behind the bar, he'd watch the pole dancers mesmerised by their moves.
He cringed.
Of all the days, why did tonight have to be Gay's night out?
He tried to get up and lost his balance. Before he could hit the ground, someone caught his arms. He looked up and was disappointed to find it wasn't Phoenix.
Why would Phoenix be here?
Instead, it was the brown-eyed man who had paid for his drink, possibly in his fifties, dressed in his suit. His tie was undone and he smelt like sweat and rum.
