"MA'AM, KUNG kailangan niyo ng tulong o may mga katanungan kayo ay pindutin niyo lang po ang call button na ito."

Tinuro ni Dessert ang nurse call button na nasa taas ng higaan ng bagong panganak na pasyente.

"I or the other on-duty nurse will assist and help you."

Nginitian niya ang pasyente nang magpasalamat ito bago siya lumabas ng silid nito at nagtungo ng newborn nursery para gawin ang iba pang nakatokang trabaho sa kanya.

"So kumusta ang bagong pasyente, Dess?" asked her co-worker, Pumi.

"Ayos naman," Dessert replied and went beside the incubator with a small and very delicate baby inside. "How is this precious one doing, Pumi? Is she getting better?"

Premature kasi ang baby. Wala pa itong pitong buwan nang ipanganak dahil sa may type one diabetes ang ina nito. That made the baby to be born prematurely with excessive birth weight and respiratory distress syndrome, requiring assistance in order for the baby to breathe until her lungs have matured and strengthened.

"Oh, that cutie is a fighter. She's doing very fine as days pass by. Sabi ni Doc Kat maaari na itong maiuwi ng magulang nito next week," balita ni Pumi na ikinasaya ni Dessert pero ikinalungkot niya rin.

Napalabi siya. "Masaya akong makakasama na ni baby ang magulang niya pero nakakalungkot din na hindi ko na siya makikita."

Pumi chuckled, then asked, "Don't worry. We still have a few babies to take care of. But why does this baby girl become so attached to you? Hmm? Hindi mo naman siya laging inaalagaan."

Malungkot na napangiti si Dessert habang nakatingin sa cute na mukha ng baby saka bumuntong-hininga.

"Naalala ko kasi sa kanya yung anak kong si Vegas noong baby pa siya. Ang tagal din sa incubator ni V noon at marami din siyang monitor wires na nakakabit sa kanya."

"Oh... Sorry to hear that," Pumi whispered. "I can't imagine myself going through the same distress. Matagal na rin ako dito at kahit hindi pa ako ina, alam ko na ang pakiramdam kung gaano kasakit para sa katulad mong ina na makita ang anak sa ganitong sitwasyon."

Dessert just gave a small smile before they both turned their attention to other babies.

Lumipas ang oras na naging abala na si Dessert at hindi niya na napansin na lunchtime na. Kung hindi pa siya tinawag ni Pumi na may naghahanap sa kanya ay hindi niya pa maaalala ang oras.

"Who is it?" Dessert asked when Pumi gave her a weird but astounded look.

"Someone..." Pumi moved to whisper to her ear, "From the Crown family. One of the very snobbish and brutally honest people towards the pesky bitches," Pumi added with a low chuckle.

"Pesky bitches?" Dessert asked, perplexed.

"Dess, may dalawang grupo ng mga bitch dito sa isla: pleasing and pesky," natatawang saad ni Pumi sa kanya. "Ang mga nasa pleasing group ay sina Doc Katana at mga kaibigan niya at siguro yung mga magiging asawa ng mga miyembro ng Crown Island Club o CIC."

"Ano ang pinagkaiba ng dalawang grupo?" kunot noong tanong niya.

"Aah, iyong kina Doc Kat ay BITCH that stands for Brave, Incredible, Thoughtful, Captivating, and Hearty. The other group is the total opposite or they lack those things. But..." Pumi gave her a stern look with her hand raised and forefinger pointing upwards.

"Those who really belong to the pesky group are those women who flirt with random men from the Crown Island Club. Iyon bang hindi stick-to-one at gusto lang talagang makabingwit ng masarap..." Pumi paused. "Ang mga ulam sa bahay," Pumi snickered.
