The bell rang, I took my time getting to Professor Snape's class. When I got there, two other kids were already in detention. I didn't know either of them though. I took a seat near the very back row and prepared for the boring couple of hours ahead. I heard the door open and turned to see Mattheo walk in. He nodded at me while passing and sat in the seat directly in front of me. We watched as Snape began writing on the chalk board in large letters;

'Detention rules' followed by a very specific list of strict rules.
"Pansy told me about your birthday." Mattheo whispered backwards.
"Oh great, so it's official." I said not sounding enthusiastic at all.
"You don't sound too happy about it."
"I have my reasons."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"QUIET! No talking in detention." Snape caught us.
I sighed slumping back in my chair. About 20 minutes in, I was staring off into space, when a nicely folded piece of paper landed on my desk. I looked down at it for a second, then looked around to see where the note has come from.
I unfolded it and read the contents.
'Orphan, cross-breed, freak, fake Malfoy, bitch, nerd, ugly, loser, ect... embarrassing' that last one kinda hurt, but I didn't let it show.
I jerked my head up to see the two boys at the front of the class room chuckling. I narrowed my eyes and mimicked laughing, then pointed my middle finger at them. How did they know about all that stuff? I hadn't told anyone that I was adopted, other than the friend group, and I trust them. I scrunched up the ball and threw it straight back at them, hitting one of the boys square in the back of the head.
"Bullseye!" I quietly laughed.
The note may have been completely unnecessary but it gave me something to do. I grabbed one of my books, ripping out a small square piece. I also grabbed a pen and began to write. I didn't really know what to write so I just said 'hi'. I folded it. I checked to see if Snape was watching before slipping it onto Mattheo's desk. He quickly picked it up and unfolded it. He grabbed his pen, and I heard scribbles.
He held the paper out behind his back knowing I was watching him. I reached over my desk and took the note from in between his fingers.
Underneath my original 'hi' he had written,
'No talking in detention. Check the board.' I smiled.
I wrote, 'not technically talking.' Before slipping it back onto his desk.
When it returned, he had added,
'True, true. Is there something you wanted to say?'
'Not really just bored.' I sent it back.
'Detention noob.' He wrote.
'Snape simp.' I replied.
I could see him chuckle while reading that last part.
Then the note was snatched from Mattheo's hands. Snape stood before us, reading our written conversation.
He froze as soon as he got to the end. Mattheo and I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. I covered my mouth attempting to stop myself.
"You two just won't give up will you?" He said.
...
"Well? What do you have to say for yourselves?" He said expecting a snarky comment.
...
"Hello?"
"Shhhh sir, no talking in detention." I whispered.
Mattheo fist pumped me, both of us keeping our eyes on Snape. Getting us both slaps on the back of our heads.
"You two, split up."
He made us sit in opposite sides of the classroom. Snape sat Mattheo next to his desk, and put me in front of the two boys who sent me the note earlier. It was silent from then on, or at least until professor Snape stood from his chair.
"I am needed elsewhere. I will be back in 10 minutes. No one moves, or else." He said formally, before slipping out the door.
...
"Psssst. Hey. Did you get our note?" One of them whispered at me.
"Yeah , very poetic." I replied not bothering to look back at them.
"Aren't you gonna get all mad or something?"
"Nope." I said shrugging, continuing to keep my eyes straight ahead.
"Damn." I heard one of them say under their breath in disappointment.
"Aren't you curious about who told us all of those things?" One of them whispered into my ear cheekily
I was, he knew I would be. Despite my bursting curiosity, I shook my head. All I wanted was for these boys to leave me alone.
The boy began to become irritated of how little he got to me. All he wanted was to get a rise out of me. That's when he said the creepiest thing anyone could have said in that context.
"You smell nice."
I shot up out of my seat, shoving him away.
"GET THE HELL OFF ME MAN!" I yelled.
Mattheo's attention was pulled to the two of us.
I tried to walk away from the boy, but he clasped onto my wrist. I tried to free myself from his grip, but he was much stronger. He was grinning with mischief. Mattheo came over, but the other boy blocked his path. Before we knew it, the four of us were in a fight in the centre isle of the classroom.
The boys grip on my arm tightened, he used his free hand to grab my shoulder, and slammed me into the nearest wall, making me wince a little.
Meanwhile Mattheo shoved the boy out of his way. Yet he was relentless, before he even saw it coming Mattheo swung at his face, punching him square in the jaw. The boy hit the ground with a thud.
"You're weak!" The other boy said holding me to the wall. Mattheo got closer, my only hand balled into a fist.
"I'm a little underwhelmed to be honest." He said, throwing me over the edge.
My fist collided with his nose. He released my arm and stumbled back a little, hand over face. He looked back up at me in shock, blood spewing from his now deformed face.
"Y- you- YOU BROKE MY NOSE." He panicked.
"I- I- I don't care." I mocked him.
"You okay?" Mattheo asked me.
"Fine." I told him.
He gently took hold my arm to get a better look.
It now had hand marks wrapped around it.
Anger washed over his face, he stepped in the direction of the boy. (who was now bleeding uncontrollably over the classroom.) I placed a hand on his chest making him stop.
"I think he got what he deserved." I said.
We stood in place for a second, Mattheo looked down at my hand, still placed on his chest. I pulled it away quickly.
"Sorry." I said beginning to blush a little. The corners of his lips turned up at the sight of my flushing face. Suddenly the door to the class opened. Snape walked in, even though his face stayed neutral, we could tell he was enraged by the picture before him.
"Professor! Thank god your here. She went crazy and attacked us!" The boy lied, pinching his nose to block the gushing blood.
"What?!" I said.
"Ms Malfoy..." Snape's deep voice began.
"No. He's lying! They started it." I protested.
"Dumbledores office, now." He ordered me.
"That is such BULLSHIT!" I said.
"NOW!" Snape repeated.
I snatched my bag, and left.
