Meredith POV:
Derek and I both had the day off today, so we've been working on various tasks. Riley's birthday is precisely in a week and we've been secretly plotting a huge surprise party. I know she was against it, but we've already missed far too many of her birthday celebrations, and she'll be off at college soon, getting drunk with her best friends, so Derek and I decided to go through with it.
We got her a lot of stuff already and I've been hiding it in the garage so she doesn't see it when she comes over.
"I got her a blue one, just like mine," Derek says
"You love spoiling the kids so much!" I chuckle.
"Admit it, you do too. We like to give them stuff that we didn't have growing up, and they're our babies so we get to spoil them as much as we want. Plus it's been a tough year and she's worked tremendously hard, she deserves it." Derek says.
"Remember how everything used to be eight months ago? She used to hate me!" I exclaim
"Yeah bad times, but now she loves you more than anything, sometimes I get jealous, she's very fun to hang out with!" Derek says
"She's like my mini Cristina, she's the best!" I smile.

"Derek, can I ask you something?" I turn around to face him.
"Yes, darling." He smiles
"What if we asked Riley to move in, we have 3 extra rooms that nobody uses, and she'd be with us, permanently?" I suggest.
"That's the best idea ever, god I could just marry you all over again!" He kisses me.
"Do we ask her today? Maybe at dinner?" He asks
"I guess so, hopefully, we don't scare her off, she's fragile, just like when you moved in." I smile
7 Hours Later
Riley POV:
I knock at the door of the dream house and wait. They said they had some errands to run today so I just went straight to work after school and my shift finished early, which was great. Jonathan has still been trying to talk to me whenever he can and my phone is full of heartfelt pleas and voice messages, I'm starting to think that I should probably forgive him, but how can I? How do you forgive someone mad at you for being happy? Since we were kids, we both dreamed of having parents and as soon as I got that, he turned on me. Who's to say that if I get something great in life, he won't turn on me again?
Mom opens the door and embraces me in a tight hug, she smells like lavender. Zola and Bailey come running and pull at my leg and then Dad hugs me as well.
"Sissy's here!" Zola squeals with excitement.
"How was work, are you tired?" Mom asked
"No I'm okay, they let me off early today so I could come to see these little cuties!" I carry Bailey on my hip and hold Zola's hand and we walk to the living room.
"They love you so much, we all do Ry." Dad kisses my head.
"I know, I do too." I smile.
"How's Jonathan, has anything changed?" Mom played with my hair as I was bouncing Zola on my lap.
"Same old. I don't need things to change though, I'm in a good space now, you know, mentally." I say as she nods.
"Ok well we didn't know what to do for dinner so did you want pizza, takeout?" Dad asked
