*For context, this is 2 weeks after they left LA and they are now settled in Seattle in the summer*

Derek POV:

My angel. My sweetheart. My little love. My darling, Riley. I don't know why I keep hurting her over and over again. We've been having too many bumps in the road lately. Most of it is my fault though. She's trying to be her best self, to grow up, to mature. I'm just here criticizing her every move and berating her as soon as she screws up or does something that I don't necessarily agree with.

I'm so scared that it gonna soon come to the point where she can't stand us anymore and leaves us for good.

She will leave us empty and in sorrow without her love.

But I want to fix this before it can even get remotely close to that point.

Meredith walks past me in the kitchen.

"Still nothing?" She frowns

"Not since the plane. I don't know what the hell to do! She can barely be in the same room as me for thirty seconds!" I exclaimed

"Maybe you guys need some time alone?" She suggested

"She'd probably run away from me." I shook my head

As I was ranting to Meredith, I didn't even realize that Riley had brought the kids down with her.

"Morning, babies! How did you all sleep?" Meredith asks

"I was dreaming about a medicine that could make you live forever!" Zola told

"I had a dream and I was going on a rocket to outer space!" Bailey replied

"Sissy slept with me because I had a bad dream again." Ellis pouted

"Oh, well those are very cool and I'm sorry you had a bad dream, baby. Thanks for staying with her Ry." Meredith said

"She's nice to hug. I'm gonna go for a drive, I'll be back around lunch." Riley smiled

"Wait, take your father with you! I'm sure he could use a change of scenery as well." Meredith insisted

"Mom..." Riley groaned

"Honey, I love you, but sooner or later you're going to have to make up. How long are you gonna let this drag out? Give him a chance to explain himself. If not for him then for me." She tried her best to persuade Riley.

"I get the aux!" She headed out the door.

"Listen to whatever she has to say. Don't push her. Put yourself in her shoes. I know you love her and care for her so much, but sometimes you have a hard time showing that. Sometimes your words come out opposite to what you want them to be. So, go easy on her okay? Just let her open up to you, don't force anything." Meredith advised

"Okay, got it! We'll be back before dinner." I say goodbye before exiting the front door.

"So, where are we going, Ry?" I asked

She shrugged her shoulders.

"Do you wanna go on a ferryboat ride?" I asked

"Doesn't matter." She muttered

"Riley, look at me, please?" I begged.

She kept on driving, this might be harder than I thought.

"I want to apologize," I said

"I've heard enough of what you've had to say." She replies

"Riley, hear me out..." I sigh
