Summary: Newt and (Y/N) meet by chance but after helping each out with school work, both of them end up figuring out something they never thought would have happened.

Requested: No. But it was also already written. It's very cliche, but well...

Why did she even pick Care of Magical Creatures anyway? She thought it would be fun and it was. Getting to see all those amazing beings and learning about them. She was also quite good with the interaction part. For some reason, a good 90% of the animals she saw during those classes were comfortable enough around her to always end up the class nuzzled up in her arms.

So why was she complaining? Because of the tests, that was why. For some unknown reason, Professor Kettleburn made one of (Y/N)'s most enjoyable classes suck with his hard questions that she never even seemed to begin to understand. So, closing her book with a huff, she dropped her head down in her arms and closed her eyes for a second.

"Excuse me." A voice called over her, causing the girl to look up. "May I sit here?"

She blinked for a while. She had seen this boy around. Something about his reddish brown hair, his green/blue eyes and the freckles dancing in his nose made him all too familiar. (Y/N) nodded and he sat down. She kept trying to dig her mind, kept trying to remember his name, but for some reason she couldn't. Maybe she burnt her whole brain as she was studying for Kettleburn's tests. Again she huffed in frustration.

"Struggling?" The boy asked, trying to hide a hint of a smirk playing on his lips.

(Y/N) turned to him, but once he kept his eyes down in his book, she raised an eyebrow.

"A bit, yeah." She admitted. "My Care of Magical Creatures' test is next week and I can't seem to understand the Occamys."

"I can help with that!" He suddenly smiled, turning to her. (Y/N) blinked, surprised by his outburst. "If you want, I mean..." He added after seeing her reaction. "COMC is the only thing I'm good at, anyway."

Then it clicked. Hufflepuff, a few years older, Care of Magical Creatures' genius...

"Scamander, is it?" She asked, quietly. "Nev Scamander?"

"Newt." He corrected, with a shy smiled. "Newt Scamander."

"Oh, I'm sorry." She blushed a bit. "I'm (Y/N). (Y/N) (Y/L/N)."

Newt nodded and for a moment it was quiet. Suddenly, though, Newt cleared his throat.

"So... Occamys, huh?" He asked.

And just like that, they spent their whole afternoon, studying together, until it was time for dinner. After agreeing to meet each other every day after classes to study, (Y/N) smiled as she exited the library. For the first time, she believed she could get at least an "O" from Kettleburn. And it would be all thanks to one Newt Scamander.

(Y/N) couldn't contain her excitement. She ran through the halls of Hogwarts, looking for one specific person. And there she found him. His lanky, tall form sat against a tree by the Black Lake. She squealed, before rushing over to him.

"Newt!" She cried happily, plopping down beside the boy, who jumped slightly at her presence. "Look, look, look!" She cheered, shoving her piece of paper in his hands.

Newt looked it over and a smile appeared in his face. She not only had improved her grades of COMC but she had also got an "E" for her last test. He chuckled.

"You see? An E! I've got an E, Newt!"

"I saw." He smiled down at her. "I knew you could do it."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She squealed throwing herself in his arms, pulling him in for a hug. For a second, he didn't react, surprised by the girl's actions, but then, decided to hug her back, anyway. "I wouldn't have done it without you, Newt. If there's anything – anything at all – I can do to repay you, I'll do it."

She pulled back from him and sat back in her own legs, looking up at him, missing the hint of blush that appeared in his cheeks. Newt coughed and shook his head, before looking into her eyes. He smiled as he noticed the younger girl staring right back at him.

"I wouldn't need you to do anything for me, (Y/N)." He said. "But you see... I'm failing potions, and I heard you're top of the class, so if you could maybe help me breed this thing, I'd be really thankful."

"Sure." (Y/N) smiled, scooting closer to him so she could peak his book. "Oh... Amortentia. Yeah, sure. We can do it."

"Good." He smiled. "Tomorrow after classes?"

"Sure." She smiled back, before getting up.

"Wait!" He called, making the girl look back at him. "Where?"

"Don't worry, Newt." She chuckled. "I'll find you."

And true to her word, (Y/N) found him. He was sat a very isolated part of the library. Around him, one open book, a few pots with ingredients and a caldron. (Y/N) smiled as she saw his brows furrowed in confusion. She leaned against a shelf of books and tucked a loose strand of red hair behind her ear.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Scamander." She smirked, as Newt, once again, jumped at her voice.

"Merlin, (Y/N)..." He chuckled. "Good afternoon."

"So... Have you done anything yet?" She asked, walking carefully over his book and sitting beside him. He shook his head.

"I'm afraid I'll mess up." He admitted. "I'm horrible at Potions."

"Oh, come on... It can be that bad." She giggled, looking around her. "You got all the ingredients right. That's something."

"Yeah." He shrugged. "I guess so."

"Well, let's get started then, shall we?" She smiled, putting her hair up in a messy bun, before she started talking the both of them through the steps of a perfect Amortentia.

Two hours later, both, (Y/N) and Newt were with their ties off and sleeves rolled up their elbows. (Y/N)'s bun had fallen off and she kept blowing a few strands out of her face, too busy staring at their job to tie her hair up again.

"Alright... So now..." The girl trailed off, checking the textbook once more. "Put the rose thorns in and it should be ready."

Newt reached for the last ingredient and threw them in the pink potion. The rose thorns melted and a light pink smoke left the caldron. The two of them sat there in silence, looking at the liquid.

"So... Is that how it's supposed to look?" Newt asked quietly.

"Well..." (Y/N) trailed off, looking at the picture in the book and back at the caldron. "Apparently."

But as she was about to say something else, a very strong scent hit her and she had to fight the urge to close her eyes and lay back to enjoy it. It was a perfect mixture of fresh bread, cedar wood, a lot of different herbs and wool. It probably shouldn't work together, but somehow it did. And somehow, it seemed familiar to (Y/N). But where would she have felt something like that? And then it hit her.

Newt. It was Newt's smell. She looked down and blushed, before picking up her (Y/H) tie and getting up.

"It works." She whispered, scared of speaking up and stuttering. "Bottle it up and take it to Slughorn. I guarantee it'll get you at least an 'O'."

And before Newt could stop her, she left the library. Not that the boy was planning on stop her. He, himself, was trying to figure out what made that smell so attractive to him. Something about the mixture of rain, chocolate, new books and lilies kept him in a daze. And it was then that it clicked.

(Y/N). His Amortentia smelled like no other than (Y/N) (Y/L/N).
