"When will she wake up?"
"I-I don't know, Dan. We've done all we can, we just have to wait for her to wake up."
"And how long do you think that will take?"
"Well, um,"
"Will, be straight with me. How long?"
"I don't know. It shouldn't be too long, but don't take my word for it."
I hear someone shuffle out of the room, and another sigh. "Come on sis, wake up." I feel a hand grab mine, and squeeze.
I feel the pain start shooting through my body, which causes me to gasp. "Oh my god, ow!" My eyes shoot open, and my hand clings onto the one holding it.
I look around and notice I'm in some time of infirmary. Beds are everywhere, most vacant, except for one or two.
I then turn my head to see my brother, Dan, being the owner of the hand I'm clinging on to. He looks relieved, then a look of seriousness takes over.
"Solace! Ambrosia and nectar, now!"
"Got it!" I hear someone rummaging around, but I focus my attention on Dan. He looks exhausted, but clean. He has on an orange t-shirt, and blue jeans. His black hair nice and fixed up like he usually has it, in a quiff. His green eyes glow, and he stares at me intently.
"Hey, lemon drop." I smile at his nickname for me, remembering where I got that from. When we were kids, I would always ask our guardians for some lemon drops. They were my addiction.
If you have never had a lemon drop, I feel so sorry for you. You have no idea what you're missing out on. It's the best candy ever. Well, maybe not better than Skittles, but it's real close.
"Hey, Dan-Dan." He grins, holding my small, fragile hand in both of his big, strong ones.
Okay, so time out, pause, stop for a second with me okay? Putting the story on hold. Now, I don't think I ever told you my name, or anything about me, so let me catch you up in a few minutes.
My name is Andromeda. You know, like the galaxy. That's my birth given name. The name I go by, is Mallory, or Mal for short. Now, the reason I go by Mal is because,
1) Andromeda was the name my parents gave me, the ones that abandoned me and my brother, so I don't use it
2) Andromeda is way too long, so I chose a shorter one
3) Dan told me I could choose a new name
Now, in case you're wondering, Dan is not his birth given name. That one is Alexander. Neither of us have a last name or middle name, since we don't remember them, nor want them.
Our story is that we went from foster home, to foster home. No one would keep us. He is two years older than me, and we refused to be separated.
So when Dan turned sixteen, we ran away from our house for that week. Dan stole some of their money and jewelry, like he did with every family, so we had a little to start us off with.
We rented out an apartment, and Dan got a job. He enrolled us both into school, so we would learn and live like most kids would.
After I got a job at fifteen, Dan left to go to a boarding school. He would be gone except for the holidays, and the summer.
He always came back home and would tell me stories about greek mythology, and how it was all real.
Of course I didn't believe him at first, until we were out walking and a fury came and attacked us. Now you know how that ended so yeah.
