Glances.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with stealing a couple of glances. Was that even possible? To steal a glance?

The question disturbed her so much that she reached for her bible the night before and scanned the weathered pages for the forsaken word, and she chose to reread only one line twice; you shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal.

It continued to trouble her when she arose in the morning and chose to go outside despite the blistering cold. She hummed and flipped through the canvas pages of her notebook, before settling on a blank leaf and she began dragging the shard of charcoal against the soft surface.

When she first started it was simply a drawing of the snow settling on the trees and atop of the frozen lake that no longer flowed behind the castle, but then it turned into something else, something she knew she shouldn't look at too long, let alone draw.

In the open sky she felt his soul, so on the page she drew his face... and whilst she blended the dark powder on the page she came to the conclusion that, yes; Glances could in fact be stolen.

Because to steal is to take something that does not belong to you, and though she knew Eren Yeager was not hers, she still chose to indulge in him whenever she could, in his smile, his conversation, the way he squinted his bright eyes when he would try to stifle
his laughter.

He was not hers, yet she took whatever he unknowingly offered. And in the same way he didn't know the secrets she so fervently buried, she wasn't aware of the treacherous eyes that looked over her shoulder.

"Your majesty." Came a voice behind her, and the book was slammed shut in an instant.

She had come to know that voice far too well, and she felt her stomach drop once Pieck took another step towards her.

"May I sit next to you?" the dark-haired woman asked.

[Name] didn't even turn to look at her, but she nodded, and the woman smiled before settling down on the thick blanket next to her, she wrapped her red velvet coat tightly around her and shivered.

"Are you enjoying your time in Marley so far?" Pieck said with an honest tone, and [Name] took a deep breath.

"It's been interesting... different. I am glad I have my ladies to rely on."

"Ah yes, they are beautiful. I was sorry to hear Lady Mina passed, my most sincere condolences."

[Name] grimaced and slid farther away from the woman. "Thank you, she was a dear friend."
