Gabi's engagement party was long and stressful, not only because of the celebration itself, but because Zeke's eyes were trained on [Name] all night. Watching her, waiting for her to make the wrong move.

Being so vigilant the entire night had tired her beyond compare and [Name] thanked God that people started pulling out cards and games, so that she could leave.

When [Name] finally stepped into her room she was ready to slip into her sheets and let the exhausting night finally come to an end, but as always she was never really that lucky.

"A letter came for you while you were at the engagement party." Ymir had told her.

"Leave it, I will read it tomorrow." [Name] had said.

"It's from Paradis." Ymir finished.

The contents of the letter nearly made the wine she drank come up her throat.

[Name] was out the door in an instant already racing down to beg Zeke for help. Of course he was mad, of course he wasn't perfect, but he still cared about her in a way, he was still reasonable in a way.

Surely he wouldn't deny her his aid in her most desperate times.

Surely he couldn't be that cruel.

When she finally managed to find him in between the crowds of drunk men and women, Zeke was sitting down on a rounded table, laughing with a group of his friends around him.

He was downing spirits as if they were his lifeline and she frowned, he'd already been drinking wine throughout the entire night.

[Name] swallowed the lump growing in her throat and wiped her sweaty palms on her skirt. She didn't enjoy Zeke sober... but Zeke under the influence of alcohol? She avoided him at all costs.

Unfortunately today she had no choice. Her country was in trouble, and she didn't have the option to wait for him to sleep off the wine.

"Zeke," she said sternly, he looked over his shoulder once and ran his eyes down her body from head to toe, before turning back to laugh with Porco Galliard.

She took a deep breath and took a step closer to him.

"Zeke," she repeated.

He didn't even turn around the second time, and that's when her hand landed on his shoulder.

"Zeke!"

"Not now, [Name]." he mumbled slipping her hand off his shoulder.

"Zeke, please. I need to speak with you." she whispered into his hear.

"Are you blind?" he hissed, pushing her away. "I am busy. Lord Galliard here is telling me about the finest whores that Marley has to offer." he laughed and took a swing of ale. His friends echoed his laughter around the table and she shook her head.
