SIX YEARS LATER...
A bright day, a windy day.
[Name] took a deep breath as she let the water from the sea wash over her feet. There was a sweet smell in the air this morning and it was one of the few days she had nothing to do aside from attend church.
She felt at peace if only for a moment as she felt the wind whip her hair out of her face and pull at her white linen dress.
It felt like she was flying for a moment, she felt free. The thought quickly got overshadowed when she remembered his laugh.
Her face fell and her arms crossed over each other in search of some comfort.
Eren.
His features were blurry now and his voice had faded from her memory, after all he had left her years ago.
Abandoned her, really.
Leaving her to deal with her husband's rage and mistrust, and leaving her with the lasting memory of his lips against her own.
She quickly shook the thoughts away, instead choosing to focus on the waves slamming into each other.
She had initially wanted to spend the day alone and take her horse, Libellule, out for a run through the brush but Zeke had another suggestion for her one day of leisure.
"[Name]," Zeke called out, instantly ruining her train of thought. "He's crying again!"
She let her shoulders fall, and she forced a small smile on her face before letting her skirt drop down into the water, the thin white linen instantly soaking up the salty water below her feet.
"Come, Gale!" she yelled, crouching down and sinking her feet deeper into the sand, before extending her hands out.
Her baby boy came running at her and she smiled when she saw how the harsh wind blew his golden hair away from his round face. Despite the strong waves threatening to push him down into the water, he came full speed at her and he let out a squeal when he managed to run into her arms.
"Momma!" he laughed as she wrapped her arms tightly around him and brought him up into the air.
Gale, her first-born, she kissed the top of his head and he giggled as she ran quick kisses down his neck.
"Oh, you've gotten so big since the last time I saw you!" she laughed and the boy nodded.
"Momma–Momma!" he gasped as she set him back down onto the water. "I learned how to wield a sword."
"Oh!" she smiled, despite her confusion, and almost as if the devil called out to him, Zeke came up behind her and she let out a breath as they looked down at their child.
