“Why do you have so much shit, anyway?” He huffed, wiping his disgusting sweat on the back of his hand. I stared at him in shock and calmly responded.

“I’m living here, dumbass!” Derek rolled his eyes and leaned against the doorframe.

“Did you label your boxes?” He asked. “I’ll bring them to the right room so at least we can get in.” For once, he was being helpful.

“Yes, that would be a good idea.” I sighed, pulling my long hair up in a ponytail. I had the back of his car and mine filled with crap, but I wanted nothing more than to leave it sit and find somewhere cool.

Unsurprisingly, Derek’s house was huge. His father clearly did well in his job, because his house was probably the size of the Kardashian’s.  I was surprised I didn’t have to enter through a gate to get in. The guesthouse was probably as big as one of our dorm buildings, and looked as if it was well taken care of. It was painted a soft yellow, and had giant windows, so the beach was visible.

“Are you going to stare or we going to finish?” He huffed as he came back outside. Rolling my eyes, I grabbed another box and placed it in the doorway. Derek and I finished unloading the boxes without another word, leaving us in a surprisingly comfortable silence.

“Is your stuff moved in?” I asked him as I looked around the house. It was breathtaking. The interior had lighter colors, making the big space seem even larger. The kitchen was a calm blue, making the white cabinets pop and giving it a calming atmosphere. The house definitely had a woman’s taste and for that I was grateful.

“It’s beautiful.” I mumbled, walking through the large living room. A giant flat screen sat above the fireplace, perfect for Derek to do nothing.

“My mom, she uh, designed it.” He stammered awkwardly. Derek scratched the back of his neck and looked around the house, as if he didn’t go in here much. I guess he didn’t need to, considering the size of his actual house.

“It looks really nice.” I admitted.

“So, what else needs to be done?” He asked cautiously, avoiding the rest of the conversation. He shifted uncomfortably on his feet, as if he didn’t know where he was needed. Despite my hatred for him, his awkwardness was adorable.

“Well, I brought some kitchen stuff.” I shrugged. “I didn’t know what you had and I just brought all of my stuff.”

                “That’s fine. I’ll start there.”

“Where’s the bedroom? I’ll start unpacking my clothes.” Derek nodded and  lead me up a fancy staircase. There were a row of bedrooms, ours being in the very middle. He opened the door to the master bedroom, causing my jaw to drop.

“Holy fuck.” The room was huge. A king sized bed with a white comforter and a giant headboard filled my attention.  Once again, there was a giant fireplace and a flat screen TV placed on top. The closet door was open, leading to a huge walk in closet.
