T W E N T Y   N I N E || LET ME DOWN EASY

♕ ♔♕ ♔♕

By Friday, I was a nervous wreck.

Pacing around the kitchen, I tried to calm myself down from a panic attack. Daniel helped set the table while Andy pouted in the living room, complaining how he was never apart of anything interesting.

Derek and his father made a wonderful dinner. A special baked chicken with assorted vegetables and a homemade pasta bake. Truthfully, it was mouthwatering. I was slightly tempted to dig in to some of the side dishes as I nervously waited for Nathaniel and his family. I wanted to wear scrubby clothes, but Derek insisted I looked presentable, even if it was for something I didn't want to attend.

Wearing my lucky bra and some comfortable underwear, I managed to make myself look decent. Slipping on my black fitted dress, it showed off my curves but also made me look mature. My hair was left in its natural waves and my makeup was light. Charlie helped me choose some silver jewelry, completing my look.

I looked hot.

Unfortunately, it didn't calm my nerves.

"Anna, I promise, it'll be hard but I won't leave your side." Scoffing, I shoved a strawberry in my mouth. Derek's khaki pants made his bubble ass pop, and his short-sleeved red button up shirt, it made him look like a million bucks.

Well, he did grow up in a mansion.

"Easy for you to say. Your father didn't leave and decide now that he has his own family he should talk to you." I huffed. Derek pulled the pasta bake out of the oven and sighed.

"Look, who said it would be easy? Just hear him out. This is for you; not for him. If you didn't want to ask questions you wouldn't have done this."

"You said it was a good idea." I pouted. Pecking his lips against mine, he raised my chin to look at him clearly.

"You'd regret it otherwise."

"You know me too well." I complained. Smiling, he kissed me again.

"I don't have any complaints there." Pulling away from me, he looked back at his watch. "You have thirty minutes to pull yourself together."

"Great."

"Why can't I stay?" Andy whined once again. Daniel groaned and glared at the seven-year old.

"Andy, this is for your mother. This is an adult thing."

"I don't think rules need to be set based on how I came here and your marriage is." He wiped his face, smirking at us.

Derek sighed dramatically and looked at Andy. "I know, but Papa has got a huge night planned. I think he talked about making root beer floats, making your own pizza?" Andy's eyes widened at the news and looked over at Daniel in excitement.

"I even rented some movies." Daniel shrugged nonchalantly. Andy's eyes lit up in excitement and blinked rapidly.

"Wow." Andy whispered. Jumping up from the couch, he grabbed his iPod and tugged on Daniel's shirt.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Laughing, Derek crouched down in front of him.

"You be good, understand?"
