T W E N T Y  S I X || SURPRISES

Dr. Wilson's has always been a bad idea, according to Derek. It's too much that Dr. Wilson is roughly around our age and attractive; but it was too much when he voiced his attraction toward me. Andy, unsurprisingly, agrees with Derek because he absolutely favors him, and because he hopes he won't have to go to the doctor. So dragging both boys to see Dr. Wilson is always a treat for me.

I, however, found it to be a confidence boost when someone as attractive as Dr. Wilson hits on me. Unlike the boys, I didn't mind going to Dr. Wilson's, especially if he gave me extra attention.

I slipped on my summer dress and slabbed on some makeup. Hitting the gym with Derek every once in a while is starting to pay off-but I wouldn't tell him that. Spraying myself with some perfume, I grabbed my wedges and ran out of the room. Derek honked on his horn impatiently as I grabbed my purse and phone. Locking the front door, I quickly slipped inside the Hummer. I could feel Derek's eyes on me as I tapped away on my phone.

            "Excuse me?"

"Why the hell are you dressed so nice?" Andy sat in the back, grinning at the two of us. Clenching my jaw, I looked away from him.

            "I wanted to."

"It's because we're going to see him." He said between clenched teeth. Shaking my head, I frowned at him.

            "You're an asshole."

"Me? You're my wife and you're dressing up to see another man! A man who's very interested in you!" Rage filled his blue eyes, but I couldn't get too mushy at the sight of him being possessive. As wonderful as it was to have someone care about you so much, it was also annoying.

Derek and his friends made fun of me in college; I could never have a stable relationship, or any guy look at me because Derek and his friends made me a laughing stock. So yes, it was plausible I'm being slightly ridiculous, but I never got the chance to look good for someone.

            "You're being unfair."

"How am I being unfair?" He scoffed.

"I'm not doing anything wrong! I felt like dressing nice today!" I was telling the truth; it may have been somewhat inspired because I knew I would get attention, but my gym membership was finally paying off.

"Showing off for Dr. Wilson?" He spat.

"Don't talk to me.  You're being an ass and I'm not putting up with it. Start driving; we're going to be late." Muttering colorful words under his breath, he did as I said and pulled out of the driveway.

            Men.

♕♕♕

"Andy, you look and sound like you're doing so much better. Are you enjoying your summer?" Andy nodded eagerly at Dr. Wilson. The poor kid has endured my annoyance, Derek's anger, and the flirting coming from Derek's end. When we walked in the hospital, he made it obvious that if I'm looking good for someone else, then he can flirt with the nurses. He's so far gotten three numbers and a few winks.  Of course, I didn't expect him to understand or to act like an adult, so feeling humiliated and hurt shouldn't have come as a surprise.

"Yeah. After this I'm going swimming." Dr. Wilson laughed lightly.

"That sounds like a lot of fun." Dr. Wilson jotted notes down and looked at us carefully. Derek had shot him daggers the whole visit and I have not acknowledged Derek once.
