I woke up surrounded by familiar faces—Sae-byeok, Deok-su, Sang-woo, Gi-hun, Mi-nyeo, Ji-yeong, and Ali. In this twisted place, they’d somehow become the closest thing I had to a family.

As I stirred, Mi-nyeo gasped and rushed over, pulling me into a tight hug.

“Oh my god! I thought you died!” she cried, kissing my face repeatedly.

I winced as I sat up, a dull ache throbbing through my lower body.

     Right...I forgot about that.

Sae-byeok frowned. “Why are your legs shaking so much?” she asked, her voice edged with suspicion.

Sweat gathered at my brow. I hesitated.

Do they know? Should I tell them?

They were my friends…but still. Maybe not.

“I think it's because I was literally thrown down the stairs.”

     Silence.

“Guys, it’s okay!” I tried to laugh it off, raising my hands in peace.

The looks on their faces made me feel impossibly small.

"Whatever you say then..." Sang-woo mumbled, not believing me.

Later, the guards came in and began dismantling the bunk beds, replacing them with single ones. A small red-ribboned box was placed on each bed.

I opened mine—inside was a sleek, black tuxedo.

People began heading to the bathroom to change. I stayed behind, legs still sore, not in the mood to deal with the crowd.

As I began changing, I noticed a square-masked guard standing near my bed, still watching me.

“What are you doing?” he asked quietly.

“Getting changed,” I said casually, adjusting the jacket.

He hesitated. “You’re not supposed to be half-naked like this.”

I turned toward him with a smirk. “You know…I don't really care...”

He didn’t respond. Just stood there. Like a fucking creep.

《Dinner》

Later, as we sat down to eat, I noticed Sae-byeok looking off. Something wasn’t right. She kept flinching, clutching her side.

I ducked under the table, pretending to reach for something—but what I saw made my heart drop.

She was bleeding. Badly. Likely from the broken glass.

After the meal, I sat beside her and quietly offered to help her eat. She didn’t resist. I fed her slowly, carefully—each bite an unspoken promise: I’m here. I care.

Once she was done, I returned to my seat, feeling a little lighter.

That’s when I noticed something else: the knives we were given with our meals.

And the way the guards were watching us.

     This wasn’t just dinner.

     It was preparation.

     They wanted us to kill.

I looked toward the “nobody cares” group again.

There was one extra person among them.

I had my target. And I was ready to act.
