《Jun‑ho’s POV》

“What!? I worked hard!” I snapped, clearly exasperated and crossing my arms defensively.

Y/n poked at the food on the table, eyeing it warily. “Eh. It tastes alright, I guess?” Her voice cracked, and that hardened pancake in front of her looked like a slab of concrete.

     Yup, totally awesome.

Wry grin forming, I watched Y/N try to maintain composure as she took it all in—especially when she caught sight of me quietly finishing my own breakfast.

I managed a subtle wink when she looked up. She returned it with that familiar cheeky grin of hers. Except...it was fake.

“Wow! You actually finished your food?” I teased a little, crossing my arms again.

She shoved her plate forward toward the sink. “Well…what can I say? It was really…tasty.” Her voice squeaked slightly. I leaned forward, raising an eyebrow for confirmation.

She half-smiled at me. "...Don't you think? You cooked it."

I snorted. “Oh, yeah. Absolutely fantastic!”

     Suddenly, Y/N’s expression soured.

I walked away from the table because...honestly, who needs to sit through this awkward breakfast drama? The food itself was guilt-free, at least.

Y/n and Lui too, had left the table.

But where did Y/N go? Curiosity got the best of me—I silently retraced my steps down the hallway toward the bedroom she shared with her brother.

I cracked the door open just enough to see. She was changing clothes, and the sight split me down the middle—with disbelief and dirty thoughts warping my mind—I hit something on the floor with my elbow.

     Shit.

     “Hello?” she called out.

I stiffened. “Uh—sorry! I was just checking on you. I kinda knocked your...horse statue over.”

She didn’t even stop, still buttoning or zipping something.

“Is it broken?” she called back casually.

I picked it up, carefully turned it upright—but the head was twisted 180 degrees. I cringed. “Uh…it’s...it’s okay?” I whispered.

“You can just buy me another one,” she tossed over her shoulder.

I stared at the statue. That wasn’t okay—not to me. I tried to twist the head back around, but...it snapped off.

     Shit.

I just tried to make it better...and somehow I made if worse...

I froze, statue head still in my hand, as I heard the bedroom door inch open behind me.

“I thought you said it wasn’t broken?”

My heart nearly stopped. I turned to see her standing there. My laugh was hollow.

“Ahaha…I think the head came off,” I shrugged weakly.

She stepped forward and took it from me, examining it. “Huh. Well, you can just buy me another one,” she repeated and then walked away—leaving me holding the piece.

     Only a horse statue,

     I told myself.

     No big deal.
