Chapter 23: Popularity

About two weeks have passed since school started. Nothing too much has changed since then, but one thing. I started talking to the girls more and more. Kiko would usually start the conversations, bothering me and my reading. It really isn't too much of a bother as they usually carry out the conversations, but they always try to bring me into the conversation.

One day, Ivy mentioned her kendo club and how they connect to the samurai culture. Yuki, of course, mentioned that I was into Caves and Caverns, a tabletop role play game online.

"Clover, you play that game too!?" Kiko asks.

"Yeah, I'm a level, 350 human monk." I say.

"You've played since day one huh?"

I chuckle, "Not only that, I was a beta tester too."

"Lucky!!!"

"It's whatever."

"But why did you choose a human monk? Isn't that like the worst class?"

I scoff, "Only in the early game. After you reach level 5, that's when things get fun. It's a grind, but it's wherever."

"I see. I'm a level 68 wood elf ranger."

"Basic..."

"Hey! At least my class is easier to master."

"Kiko, you're literally one of the most common combos in CNC!"

The group started laughing. I sigh and notice something in the corner of my eye. The group of guys was staring at me. I shivered as I felt a dark aura from them.

Lunch soon ended and physical education was next. We did some simple stretches, exercises and the rest of the period was all free play. When that ended the boys were told to put the equipment away. As I took a ball, I took it to the storage room. Walking in, the door was closed behind me and I was pushed against the wall.

I looked back, it was Jack in front of me, grabbing me by the throat and lifting me up. Behind him were all the guys. Hunter, the class representative by vote, is most famous because he transferred from Russia to Japan when he entered secondary school. He instantly gained fame for his good looks. Next to him was Axel, one of the other famous boys at our school. Usually his arrogance and his "intelligence" carried him up to fame. The one holding me, Jack, is one of the strongest boys at our school. They say he might be dim-witted, but his strengths carry his personality. Then was Kyle, he was only famous for being rich.

"Clover Imaizumi," Hunter says, coming closer to my face.

"What makes you so special to have Kiko even talk to a lower-class student like you?" Axel questions.

I look at both of them with a bland look. I'm used to this kinda thing happening to me. I'm always confronted by guys because I always end up talking to their crush by doing absolutely nothing.

"It's called I have balls."

"What did you say!?" Kyle says.

"Cause I actually talked to her. Think about it. None of you even approached her once!" I shrug Jack off. "If any one of you wanted to talk to Kiko you could've instead of jerking each other in the front of the classroom during lunch!"

I could easily tell they started to get angry.

"You're telling us to grow some balls huh?" Axel says, gripping his fist.

"We'll show you!"

"Maybe instead of beating someone almost to death, thinking that as a metaphor, maybe you should actually-" I was then interrupted by a hit to the face. I sprung back, coughing out blood. I was then continued to be beaten.

"Hey!" someone called out.

I slowly looked up to see Kiko, Ivy, and Yuki. Yuki had a quick glance at me before clenching her fist. A devilish aura started to pour over her.

"What did you do to Clover?"

Hunter slowly backed out. "We just saw him like this I don't know what happened!"

"Lies!" Yuki says, giving a fist to Hunter, knocking him back against the wall, knocking him out.

Ivy closed the door behind them, holding a wooden kendo sword. It was only a blip that I saw what happened to the rest of the guys, but all I know is that whatever happens to me, Yuki is there to save me.

I suddenly wake up in the nurse's office seeing patches all over my face. Ms. Lucia, the school's nurse walks towards me. She was a fine tall woman. Looking to be around her mid-20s. If you thought Kiko was famous for her beauty, Ms. Lucia is a whole other level above her. Her blond hair glistens in the sunlight as the green and blue ends of her hair flow like waves. Her big, beautiful...(y'know...) got all the guys barking like dogs.

"Hey Clover, how are you feeling?" she asks.

My heart was racing. Her beauty was affecting me too. "I-I'm alright."

"You took a really hard beating. Yuki, your sister told me what the situation is about the storage room."

"What happened to the other guys anyway?"

"Ms. Kazumi is taking care of them. Hunter that got knocked out, didn't deserve medical attention. At least that's what she said."

I chuckle. "Yeah...."

"The way how you and Yuki act is very interesting. Yuki is upbeat, hyper, while you're quiet, nerdy, and introverted."

"Apparently it's just how we are complete opposites of each other."

"I can tell, it's so interesting."

Ms. Lucia and I continued to talk more as the years went by. Rumors start to spread around as they say that I use my dopy mood just to get the girls. WHICH is completely false. I was told at the end that I could visit Ms. Lucia, if I need any help, I can come to her for help.
