Chapter-2

Magnus' POV

     I woke up at two in the morning to the sound of heavy breathing. I opened my eyes and tried to figure out where I was. As I thought, 'That's right, I decided to stay at Alec's place last night,' the sound of Alec's breathing started to get louder and turn into a choking sound. I immediately turned on the lamp on the table by the bed and looked at Alec, "Alexander, ALEXANDER!!" Alec was having trouble breathing, so I immediately went over to Alec's bedside and tried to wake him up. "Alec!!, come on, wake up. Please wake up!." Alec opened his eyes and his breathing became even heavier, as if he was suffocating. "Alec, where's your inhaler?!"

    Alec waved his arms, pointing to his backpack. I quickly ran to his bag and pulled out his inhaler. After Alec took a long puff of his inhaler, his breathing began to settle. "Thank you" was all Alec said.

    I looked at Alec, he looked tired, as if he had run a marathon. I wanted to ask him what happened. Alec has congenital asthma, since the first day we met he told me about his disease and said that he was very careful. I was very surprised that he had an asthma attack while he was sleeping.

   'I wonder if he had a nightmare?' I thought. Alec starts tossing and turning on the bed, I realiz he can't sleep, and I start running my hand through his raven-black hair. "shh, it's okay Alexander. Go to sleep. I'm here." Alec closed his eyes tightly and began to cling to the sheet he had draped over him.

    I looked at the clock on the table, it was almost three o'clock, Alec's breathing was getting better and he seemed to be sleeping peacefully. I closed my eyes and fell asleep with one hand in Alec's hair.

    It was six o'clock when I woke up to the sound of Alec's alarm. I immediately opened my eyes and reached for Alec's phone and turned off the alarm. I looked at Alec, who was still sleeping next to me. I thought, 'I guess he didn't hear the alarm sound or he couldn't get his sleep at night'.

    I slowly got out of bed and went to the bathroom, splashed water on my face and brushed my teeth, then went back to the room. I bought the pants I wore yesterday and bought one of Alec's black sweatshirts. I went back to the bathroom and changed, Alec's sweatshirt was too big for me, but I still wore it because it felt comfortable.

    I went to the room and looked at Alec, who was still asleep. I was still thinking about what happened last night. I knew Alec had sleep problems, but I never thought it would be this serious. Honestly, I'm a little upset that he kept it from me. I looked at the clock and it was almost seven o'clock so I went straight to the kitchen and decided to make breakfast for Alec and Izzy.

    I looked in the refrigerator. I brought out a few eggs and vegetables, I'm not very good at cooking, but I still love to cook.

    I decided to make a veggie omelet for Alec and Izzy. I prepared all my ingredients and poured them into the pan while I started making fresh coffee. When there was coffee, I immediately poured myself a cup. I decided to have bacon and toast with the veggie omelet. As I placed the bread on the table, I was suddenly startled by Alec's voice

    "Is that my sweatshirt?" I looked at Alec and smiled, "Good morning to you too, Yeah, is there a problem?"

    Alec raises an eyebrow at me, "No, it's just not quite your style." Alec came over and sat down at the table. "Yeah I know. It felt comfortable so I wore it." I poured a cup of coffee for Alec and sat next to him. "It looks good on you." I looked at Alec and suddenly felt red. Why am I blushing at something Alec said? this makes no sense.

    I quickly collected myself, "Hey, do you want to talk about what happened last night?" Alec seemed offended by my question. "Look man, I'm so glad you helped out last night, but there's nothing to talk about." I looked at him confused, "Alec, you almost choked, you couldn't breathe. If you have a problem, you should share it with me." Alec seemed overwhelmed by my speech but not only that, there was something else in his eyes "shame" why would Alec be ashamed of something like that?

    Before Alec had a chance to reply, I continued the conversation. "Alec, what happened at night wasn't normal. If I wasn't there you might not have made it to the inhaler in time. At least if you talk to Izzy and she starts staying in the room next to yours instead of the room down the hall, what if something happens when no one is around. There's no way Izzy can hear you from her room."

    "Magnus, I know you're thinking of me and I'm so grateful for that, but I can't talk to Izzy right now, she's upset enough that my parents aren't around and she'll be very upset if she finds out that I can't stay alone. Like I said, it's not a big deal, it was a one-time thing and I'm much better now. Please Don't say anything to Izzy."

    I simply nodded and before I could answer Izzy came running into the kitchen "Good morning guys" Alec and I spoke at the same time "Good morning to you too princess" Izzy looked over the table and raised her eyebrows at Alec "Looks like Magnus managed to get you to eat." I shifted my eyes from Izzy to Alec "What?" Alec rolled his eyes and looked at the food in front of him. "Nothing, Izzy is trying to be annoying again."

    Izzy sat down at the table and we started having breakfast together Alec seemed to be having a hard time eating but I thought, 'he has a bad appetite in the morning'. I looked at the clock and it was almost eight o'clock and it was Alec who broke the silence "You guys go to the car I forgot a few things in the room"

    Me and Izzy put the dishes in the dishwasher and went to the car about fifteen minutes passed and Alec still hasn't come. Me and Izzy were starting to get worried, I decided to go inside the house to check on Alec. I go up the stairs to Alec's room the room was empty, the water sound was coming from the bathroom I immediately went to the bathroom door "Alexander are you okay?" no one answered "Alexander?!" I knocked a few more times and the door opened. Alec was staring at me with watery eyes, his already white face looking even more pale. "Alexander what happened to you?"

    Alec dried his face with a towel and stepped out of the bathroom "I'm fine, I'm fine. I think I've got a little cold." I gave Alec a suspicious look and just as I was about to start questioning, Alec started to say, "Come on, we're going to be late." Alec grabbed my arm and we left the house together.

    After about fifteen minutes of quiet driving, we arrived at the school's parking lot. We went to our friends who were waiting for us in the school garden.
