Chapter four~ Mate

BAYLON'S P.O.V.

I felt a sense of relief when I spoke to her over the phone. I thought that she wouldn't except me as her mate for a moment and That scared the crap out of me, so I sat outside of her house just in case she rejected me so then maybe I could have to appeal to her in person. She was my mate so I had to try. My dad once told me that without your mate your life would be empty. Of course you could find another woman to spend your days with, but once you found your mate and are rejected, your life is never the same. Although at first I didn't want a mate, I didn't want that longing and pain for myself either... and I could feel it already. I knew that I was too young to be thinking about forever, but she had found me and really how would I go back to before...

When I finally made it home and pulled into my driveway, there were a lot of the pack members cars parked there. We had a really huge driveway for just such an occasion, but I wondered why were they there this time? We had pack meetings on Saturdays so everyone who worked or had other things during the week could be free to be there. But For me, it was a requirement in my life, So I really Was trying to figure out why was I not called to come straight home on this occasion, was there some sort of emergency?

I made it into the foyer of our house where I met my mother at the door. " Hello sweetheart, your father is in the great room having a meeting you should join him in there right away. Are you hungry at all? Some of the ladies and I are making some snacks in the kitchen" I just smiled at my mom and shook my head no, missed her on the cheek and headed for the great room. As I entered I could already hear my father speaking.

"Does anyone know who these rouges are?" no one answered "well its time to go investigate, I have a good idea of who they are, everyone lets go" everyone started to leave so I asked my father, " what's going on dad?"
" When John and Mason were patrolling the territory tonight they found two rouges, they chased them off of our land. But we are trying to uncover why they were here to begin with and so we are going out right now to see what we can uncover." I felt compelled to go with him, something I have never felt before. " I want to go dad." My father looked pleasantly surprised at me, and nodded. " You do need to go, this is an important experience for you" I smiled. "Dad lets not go overboard okay?" He chuckled at me, then we walked out of the door.

When we all got outside just within the space of the woods, everyone shifted into our wolf forms. We had senses better than any human ever could, but it was like extra sensory when we shifted. I loved being a wolf. My father shifted into his huge Black wolf form, he was jet black with bright yellow eyes. I myself was a really dark brown with some white spots near the top of my head and my ears....I couldn't help but look at kaylee's dad just because I was curious. He was grey and white all over. I had never seen that before....Most of our pack wolves resembled me, more of a dark brown or black like my father.

We entered the area where the rouges were spotted and you could smell them all over the place. John used our feral telepathy to speak with us and told us that there was a new scent around something that he hadn't caught before, like there was an extra wolf that they didn't see. As we kept searching for clues, I came upon a torn up piece of clothing. Sometimes when you don't have time to shift you may rip your clothing off shifting...I figured that's what this was. I carefully picked it up with my mouth and brought it to my father to show him.

"Where did you find this son?" "over there in those bushes, do you think that they may have come here in there human form?" He replied "This is a mystery to me, lets search around for anything else we might find and then go home All." I thought that was strange, but okay.....When we all got back to the house the ladies, as my mom called them had made us some food which was nice. All that shifting and running in the forest had made me feel starved. Shifting always brought on an appetite. I took my food and went to my room to relax and eat and maybe get a shower and some sleep. But as soon as I hit my door I found Billy and Randy already there playing video games on my flat screen. "Why are you guys in here invading my personal space ugh!" Billy just smirked at me " gimme a break, We're always here dude you have the biggest tv, how else could we play the game? and besides, We want the scoop, where did everybody go tonight and  we werent invited?"
