- Father-ing -

The next day had finally come for the family and Adrien had continued brushing Hugo off...

Marinette P.O.V

''Mommy'' Hugo yelled running into my room as tears rolled down his cheeks. ''Baby what happened'' I asked picking him up as he wailed. ''Pubba hates me'' He yelled through sobs. ''He doesn't love me as you do a-and he doesn't want to talk to me, o-or play with me h-he won't even go outside either, he hates me,'' Hugo cried as Adrien stood outside the door hearing their conversation that played like flashbacks of his past.

''He doesn't hate you okay, he just doesn't know how to be a dad yet okay, you are his first child and mine too so just give him time okay baby I promise it will get better and he's gonna be the best dad ever okay'' Marinette whispered as tears threatened to fall.

''Okay momma'' Hugo responded before I placed him on the bed and he hugged his stuffed animal and stared at the wall. ''Mari, my dad wants you guys to come over in a bit'' Adrien said walking into the room. ''Yeah okay thanks'' I responded wiping my tears. ''Is he okay'' he asked. ''Why do you care'' I crossed my arms and he sighed. ''Marinette-'' ''Adrien, I have been hearing him crying in his sleep these past few nights and it's a nice thing to hear so no he isn't okay'' I walked off and picked up Hugo and took him to his room to get ready. 

At Gabriels House

''Hi, Grandpa'' Hugo said as we walked in. ''What wrong champ'' Gabriel asked as Adrien walked in and sat Hugo's bag on the sofa. ''Pubba hates me'' He whispered in his ears but they all heard. ''Oh,'' Gabriel responded while Marinette walked away to the kitchen. ''I'm sure he doesn't'' Gabriel responded but Hugo just sighed and Gabriel placed him down on the sofa with his Cory Carson toy car. ''Can I talk to you'' Gabriel asked and Adrien nodded and walked outside with his father.

Marinette came outside and sat with Hugo watching them as they argued for a while before it got emotional and they both were crying as Adrien hugged his father tightly, Marinette smiled at them, but her smile soon faded as soft sniffles were coming from Hugo. ''You okay baby'' She asked and he nodded and went outside to the backyard. 

''What's wrong baby'' Marinette asked as she followed Hugo to the backyard. ''E-Everyone has a P-Pubba that loves t-them, I-It's not fair'' He yelled hugging her tightly as he sobbed. ''I am sorry baby, I will try my best okay'' he nodded and continued hugging her tightly as he cried. Picking him up the blue sat by the pool staring into the water as her son cried on her lap. Her tear-filled eyes glimpsed at Adrien looking at them. From that moment Adrien promised himself to make it up to his son no matter how hard it gets...

LATER THAT DAY...

''Hi,'' Hugo said as he passed Adrien on his way inside. ''Hi. Where did you go'' Adrien asked as Paxton brought in his bag and sat it on the table. ''Mommy said not to bother you so, bye'' He responded with a frown. Adrien sighed and went down to his level. ''Look, Hugo, I'm sorry you can bother me how much you want, and I can play with you, and take you out now, and take you to work with me, and we could go get ice cream together if you want, please forgive me'' 

''What is for-gwive'' he slanted his head slightly in confusion making his dad chuckle. ''It's when someone tells you sorry for something bad they did to you and you accept their apology and move on basically, understand?'' He asked and Hugo nodded but Adrien could tell he was still a bit confused. ''I for-gwive you the Pubba'' Hugo smiled widely. ''It's forgive'' Adrien repeated. ''For...gwive'' Hugo mumbled. ''For-give'' Adrien repeated again. ''For-gwive'' The boy slanted his head. ''Whatever you are cute'' Adrien chuckled. ''Great, so what do you have to do now'' Adrien asked getting back up. ''Mommy's Pubba and I made a birthday cake for someone today, so I have to change because I wanna learn how to swim'' Hugo beamed happily.

''Great, I can teach you then, tell me when you are ready okay'' Adrien replied. ''Ok, bye Pubba'' he responded before going up the stairs holding onto the rail and going up one by one. Adrien chuckled and went back to his office to send some ideas he found made by Marinette to his father.

''Hugo don't play in the pool by yourself, I'm coming in a bit kay'' Marinette responded putting sunscreen on his face. ''Yes, Momma'' Hugo smiled excitedly as his father was about to teach him something. After his mom was finished, he made his way down to the pool.

TIME SKIP

Hugo became impatient sitting waiting by the pool so he sat on the shallow end by the steps just kicking the water. ''Hugo, wait till Paxton comes okay'' Marinette yelled from her bedroom balcony. Hugo nodded and threw a beach ball into the water.

A few minutes later Marinette could hear the water splashing loudly but Hugo giggled and was gone. Fear filled her as the mom looked over to see her son reaching for help in the deep end of the pool. ''Paxton Hugo is in the water!'' She yelled frantically.

Adrien had heard her scream and quickly ran out to the pool but froze as he got flashbacks from his past. ''Chat'' Marinette yelled at him and Paxton jumped into the water and carefully brought the kid to safety while his mother rushed down the stairs making her way to them. Making sure he was okay Marinette hugged her son as panicked tears ran down her face. ''Mari I-'' ''Don't e-ever talk to my s-son again'' she yelled before taking the young boy inside.

''Fuck'' Adrien yelled angrily as he punched the wall. ''Don't stress it, he will be okay, and I saw you bonding earlier, that's a big step for you, Just explain how you froze and she will understand'' Paxton said. ''Marinette had enough of my shit already, She isn't going to care. He almost died Paxton'' Adrien slumped back onto the chair. ''He still loves you, just take it one step at a time you will get there, eventually'' Adrien sighed and nodded thinking of ways to make it better...
