The hug stayed imprinted in my mind for the entire duration of the night. Nevertheless, ( A'n I'm sorry I had to, I'm a sucker for Song Kang) I managed to get 3 hours of sleep and make it to school 5 minutes early. Don't ask how, I just did. I was waiting by my lockers with the other guys when Popcorn and Aria walked in.
I'm stunned, she's a minute early, that's exceptional for her. I grinned at her and Aria and pretended like I was checking whether she was sick as I told. "Shit Popcorn, you okay? You're a minute early, should we take you to the ER?" She glared at me, "Very funny Rhy, I'm extremely amused" and rolled her eyes as we headed towards AP bio together.
Everyone was stunned when we walked in together. Adam glared at me and I didn't hesitate to glare right back. We went to our seats when I turned around to Adam and whispered, "I don't think we've met formally, I'm Rhysand, Poppy's best friend and it would be really nice of you to leave her alone from now." Adam glared at me and asked, "Best Friend is it? Where have you been these past 2 years?".
I flinched back, not expecting that sudden comment when Popcorn decided to step in. "He hasn't been there for me these past 2 years but at least he didn't cheat on me, emotionally abuse me and doesn't pass around slutty comments about me. I suppose I can't say the same about you can I, Adam?". Visibly defeated, he sunk back into his chair accepting his misery before he muttered a simple "You're gonna regret this you whore." and that kids is how you piss Rhysand off.
I reeled towards him and before Popcorn could stop me, my fist and Adam's face were having an intense makeout session. The result of this makeout session you ask? 1 black eye, a bruised nose and a very shocked and angry Poppy. She looked at me with amusement, concern, anger because I'd get in trouble and shock which eventually subsided into yelling at me for hitting him. I just grinned at her and she gave up being mad at me.
Adam couldn't even complain about what just went down, he knew he'd get into equal parts trouble. I've gotta hand it to him, for someone who's got nothing to do in life except make girls miserable. He's smart enough to think about the consequences.
He didn't bother Poppy for the rest of the period and that was enough to satisfy me for now. After the bell rang she dragged me out and lectured me not to hit anyone again and I just nodded knowing that this was just another one of Poppy's lectures. I missed them a lot while I was away though.
That reminded me I had a gift for her waiting in my locker. I snapped out of my thoughts to see Popcorn still going on about how I shouldn't have hit him and how I could have gotten into serious trouble when my mind lit up with an idea. I threw Poppy over my shoulder and marched down to my locker.
It's hard to get Popcorn to shut up if she's lecturing and this seemed to work perfectly fine. I swear for someone this small her voice is shit loud. I'm pretty sure they could hear her scream, "RHYSAND JAX CONNOR YOU PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW" all the way across the hallway.
I found my locker beside an amused Aria and Rowan who clearly is a laughing mess. I plopped her down next to my locker and she fell right on her butt. She gave me a glare that could wither even the prettiest flowers. I grinned at her as I pulled out the soft toy from my locker. All it took was one look at what I was holding and Popcorn jumped up and snatched it from my hands.
She squealed. Poppy Rose Sencen squealed. She snatched the baby elephant from my hands and cooed at it. I've gotta admit she looked awfully cute when she was gushing over the elephant. She grinned at me and said, "I almost forgive you for throwing me on the floor." keyword being almost, she still smacked me hard on my head.
I watch with amusement as she talked to the baby elephant and played with it before carefully taking the elephant, now Ella to her locker. She treats them like they're her kids. Concerning behavoiur? yes. She even has a stuffed bear at her home name Potatoe. She loves the stuffed toy more then anyone and literally doesn't sleep without him.
Am I jealous of a soft toy?
Yes. I am.
