It's Halloween today. Popcorn has a very weird love towards all festivals. Halloween, Christmas, Easter and so on. She'd force all of us to dress up and go trick or treating. No parties, no lazing around. All of us dress up and we go trick or treating and then have a movie night later at someone's house.
This year was no exception, you could practically hear the groans from our group chat begging Popcorn to change her mind so we could just sit at home. There's 3 things Poppy's really stubborn about.
Dressing up and celebrating said festival properly
Never getting up unless the book she's reading is complete
Sleeping.
So as usual I wasn't stunned a few hours later when I was standing next to 3 zombies, 3 witches, 3 mummies and 2 vampires. I was of course a vampire and Poppy was as always loyal to being a witch. After taking a good amount of pictures we decided to hit the road at around 8:30, the kids would usually wind down by now and we'd have all the remaining chocolates.
The first house we hit looked at us with a confused look as the passed us chocolates. Its not really everyday you see 12 almost adults roam around for trick or treating but Popcorn. The next house, there was a teen boy about our age. He looked all the girls up and down, Eric's hand tightened around Selene, Paxton pulled Trixy back.
He finally settled on Poppy and told her, "How about you give me your number, and I'll give you all my chocolates."
My hand sneaked its way around Poppy's waist as I shot the guy a death glare and he changed his mind dumping the chocolates all into her's. He slammed the door on his way in and a smirk made it's way to my face.
Poppy was visibly confused but shrugged it off and so were the other girls. Eric and Paxton looked like they'd suffocate tryna hide their laughter and Leo and Alex didn't even bother hiding it. As we walked I heard Alex mutter it to Mads, "He was so jealous. You missed it."
Mads pouted but teased me along with the guys and throughout the rest of the day, they teased, I smacked and there were a string of colourful words being spread.
3 hours later, all of us were curled up in Leo's house with a concerning amount of chocolate lying around us. It's always been our tradition to binge movies after halloween the entire night. All of us had clothes to change into and we were all now snuggled on her couch or on the floor sprawled on mattresses. Leo and Amyra were sitting on the other end followed by Madison and Alex next to them. On the couch Rowan and Aria were sitting with Popcorn and I next to them. On the other 2 mattresses both couples Trixy and Paxton, Eric and Selene were curled up.
As much as I loved NYC, this is always gonna be my home and I wouldn't trade for anything. Half way through the first movie I could see Poppy's eyes dropping. She was trying to stay awake but failed miserably of course. Eventually she was sound asleep on my shoulder and she looked adorable. I could see Rowan smiling at us and showing me lovey-dovey faces, I flipped him off and he went back to the movie.
Looking down at Popcorn, I realised how much she meant to me. I've always liked her, but it really reached it's epitome during sophomore year. I really wanted to tell her how much I liked her and every time I'd muster the courage to do so, something would happen. In fact the day before we left, I tried to tell her. I thought I'd move on in NYC and find some else and I was utterly wrong. She'd always plague my mind, every other thought I'd have would trail back to memories of her. Seeing her curled up next to me re-lit all the feelings I tried hiding while I focused on fixing our friendship.
Resting my head on hers, I had only one thought running in my mind. God I freaking love this girl.

I woke up the next day and the first thing I heard was hushed whispers and cameras clicking away. I groaned and looked up to see the entire gang with their phones out snapping pictures of me and Popcorn. At the sight of it, Rowan and Aria had gotten off the couch after the movie, I was flat asleep on it with Poppy curled up on me. Poppy was curled up on me. I glanced down to see her sound asleep on my chest. I smiled and kissed her forehead when a chorus of "aww's" rang the room. That's when my smartass realised we had an audience.
The aww's were enough to wake up Popcorn and she woke up with a start. She was confused for a hot minute before she realised who her pillow was and where she was. She shot up and ran into the washroom at lightning speed. She stayed there for quite a while before coming back all showered and fresh and hoping that everyone had forgotten about the sight this morning.
Knowing our friends she assumed wrong, the second she walked in, a chorus of "aww you both looked so cute" rang. She blushed a deep crimson and looked down at her feet, smiling may I add. A smirk formed on my face seeing her flushed because of me, I might just make this my new hobby. Making Popcorn blush whenever I have the chance. Eventually the teasing went down and everyone started packing up to head home.
I was incharge of dropping Popcorn off today so I carried her bag and we both made our way to my car. The minute we got in I decided to tease her futher, "Slept well Popcorn?". Rrustrated by all the teasing she retorted back with, "Eh I've gotten better sleep in the past, but this can do.". My eyes shot up and my ears turned red at the thought of Poppy asleep on someone else. Noticing my reaction she commented, "Jealous are we Rhy?". I just glared and replied with, "Nope. Absolutely not.". She smirked at me and we both were silent for the rest of the ride.
A/n So. I updated I think 2 weeks later? It was a very very busy 2 weeks and I might have procasinated by alot but anyways. WE'RE RANKED 205 IN MISTAKES OUT OF 6.3K HOLY SHIT TYSFMMMMMM. I promise I'm gonna TRY and attempt to update more often. (the chances are less but I shall try) As always, i love you guys sm and tysm for the love we've been getting :)
