After spending my first 2 periods in anxiety and worrying over what her reaction is gonna be after my apology speech, her forgiving me was obviously not one I had accounted for.
Rhysand.exe has stopped working and I bulged my eyes out in shock as my jaw dropped 10 feet to the ground. I had to pinch myself to make sure I'm not hallucinating this out of sleep deprivation and anxiety. After shaking myself multiple times, I asked her, "Y-you forgive me?"
She looked at me and I could see her trying her level best not to laugh. She failed obviously and in between her fit of laughter she managed to squeeze out, "You-u should ha-ave seen you'-re face." She stopped laughing and smiled at me, "Yea, I forgive you Rhy, it's gonna take me sometime tho, to open up again."
My heart dropped a little, but after all I can't expect her to completely forgive me and jump right back in. I grinned at her and told her, "Take as long as you want, I'm always gonna be here". That's when I knew we were gonna be just fine. Even if it's gonna take time, we're gonna be fine.
I spent 5 minutes trying to find a way to start a conversation between us when I remembered we are supposed to have dinner with our families together tonight. Using that as an opportunity I asked her, "You heard about the dinner plans tonight Popcorn?" She turned to me and nodded, "Yea my mom told me yesterday." The convo died pretty soon after that. I suppose it's gonna take time for us to go back to our pace. Content with my progress for today I decided to give her the space she needs and went back to my work.
The other 2 periods got over quite fast, it was only at the end of math did I realise, not once did she call me Rhysand or Rhys. She called me Rhy. I was smiling the entire time as I walked in the cafeteria to see all my friends seated at a nice cozy table near the window.
Poppy, Aria, Rowan, Madison, Amyra, Selene, Alex, Trixy, Paxton, Leo, Eric . It might seem like alot to have a group of 12 friends, but we're okay with it excluding the always spammed group chat of ours. All of us are a mix of every single human possible.
Out of the 12, Rowan, Aria, Poppy and I were the first to become friends, followed by Selene and Paxton joining us in freshman year and Trixy and Eric joining us in sophomore year. Paxton and Trixy had started dating when I left, and as for Selene and Eric about a month ago. Although Madison , Amyra, Leo and Alex are all comparatively new they got along well.
I made my way to them and sat down next to Popcorn. I'm gonna admit I was scared of how she would react, I was scared that she'd go, "You really thought I'd forgive you?" but it all vanished when she turned towards me and smiled.
Rowan choked on his pudding and Aria dropped her spoon. I didn't know you could choke on pudding now that I think of it but Rowan's currently proving me wrong. After he drank water and calmed down both Rowan and Aria looked at us with their jaws 6 feet under the ground.
Poppy simply smiled and asked, "What? '' Aria, stunned, told her "I have lots of questions and you are gonna be answering each and every one of them later." Rowan nodded and said "Same" in reference to me.
The new 4 looked at us in confusion as Aria and Rowan finally explained the situation to the 4 of them. Amyra turned to Poppy and asked her, "So that's why you dropped that precious little churro back when we first met", Popcorn replied "Yea and now that I think of it, Rhy you owe me a churro." I sighed. Popcorn and her endless love for food. The rest of the lunch break went as smoothly as possible and it was the best I've had in a long time.
The rest of the day was a blur. I was especially high on happiness. I was with Rowan heading home in my car and he bombarded me with countless questions of, "how?" "really?" "no way" "holy shit" "How did she even forgive you?" . I shrugged and told him that all I did was apologise to her and she forgave me.
He sat in silence for a long time until he eventually broke the silence, "If you hurt her again Rhysand. I'll personally make sure she kills you." I didn't realise how close Rowan and Poppy had gotten before she pushed him away but it would be wise for me to take Rowan's threat seriously, not that I would hurt her again.
I nodded and promised I wouldn't. I understand Rowan and Aria's hesitation on letting me close to Poppy after being such an arse to her. We hung out gaming when my mom popped in asking me to get ready for dinner later. Rowan left after that while giving me a "protective brother who will kill you if you hurt my sister" glance.
I sighed at him and went back up to get ready. Considering I'm just dropping by the Sencen's, I suppose I don't have to dress up much. I slipped on a plain white shirt with a hoodie over along with blue jeans.
My little sisters, twins both younger than me by a year. Sierra and Posie were waiting for me downstairs so we could finally go. I swear the both of them may be twins but both look nothing alike. Sierra has long blond waves flowing down with streaks of golden and dark blond. She has grey eyes both courtesy of my dad's grey eyes and blonde hair.
Posie on the other hand has shoulder-length blackhair with dark blue tips and crystal blue eyes. My mom's duplicate minus the blue tips.
All of us got in the car and drove over to Popcorn's house when Posie asked, "You and Poppy are friends or are you guys still awkward, cause I really don't wanna deal with 2 awkward teenagers crammed in a room."
I sighed and stuck out my tongue on her as I said, "We're okay I suppose pOsEaNnE". Posie huffed in frustration. She being called by her full name and god do Sierra and I exploit that. We live about 15 minutes away from their place, by the time Posie,Sierra and I stopped bickering we were parking in their curb.
A/n Aren't I the best author ever. I updated again within a day and I wasn't lazy. ngl im proud of myself for actually doing it. anyways, the books might seem like its going a little too fast but there's a reason for it :) and holy shit ya'll we're climbing views like shit everyday. tysm for all the love :)
