Cthylla and her Faithful stood at the edge of a precipice, overlooking the Northwest Territories Safe Haven. The Fish of Peace floated around aimlessly, their mournful calls echoing into the night.
Vision crouched in front of the others, dressed in a leather jacket and black pants, and wearing a striped green scarf around the lower half of his face. His central eye was visible, while the other two were covered by a pair of sleek sunglasses.
"What have you found so far, Vision?" Cthylla asked impatiently.
"Hold yer horses, madam," Vision snarled, glaring at her over his shoulder. "I'm still scanning." He turned back to face the haven, pulling down his scarf and taking a drag on his cigarette. He exhaled slowly, allowing a cloud of green smoke to form in front of him. "They're still lookin' for Sightless," he informed his leader. "Everyone's on high alert."
"Alright. Anything else?"
"Yeah. They've got allies." Vision laughed and sneered, "Figures Granddad didn't separate the good eggs from the bad. Looks like we're gonna have to crack 'em, eh?"
"We'll focus on that later." Cthylla crossed her arms. "How many Inner Gods have infiltrated the haven?"
"Eh, I'd say about thirty," Vision reported. "Mostly small-time creeps with a focus on jump-scares."
"Any heavy hitters?"
Vision grinned. "Oh, yeah. We got a big one."
"Good. What's its location?"
Vision's grin widened.
"Addison!"
"Yo, Addison!"
"Addison! You out there, man?"
"Addi? If you can hear me, please answer!"
While the other continued to search, Kayla swooped down to the ground, spreading her wings to slow her descent. Zill landed next to her, his forlorn expression matching hers. "Still nothing," Kayla said sadly. "We've been searchin' all night."
"He's gotta be out here somewhere!" Zill ran a hand over his antennae while his snake tail rattled nervously. "It's not like he left the haven, right?"
"He might've. From what Kenzie told me, he's was feelin' pretty bad." Kayla sighed. "Poor mite. He's prob'ly cursin' himself for how he's been actin'."
"Maybe. But you know Addison," Zill reminded his wife. "Always bounces back, no matter what. He'll come back, or we'll find him. One way or another, he'll make it through this. And so will we."
Kayla smiled. "Right." She checked her watch. "Well, it's only ten-thirty," she reported. "Lots of moonlight ahead of us."
"You think we should head back home for a breather?" Zill asked.
