"So... this isn't how I thought this would go at all," Snake remarked.
She, Latika, Bari, and the chairpersons stood in the middle of a cave, surrounded by Cthulhu cultists—or Cthylla cultists, they supposed. None of them were wearing their masks, so they were easily identifiable as escaped convicts.
"You honestly thought you could barge in here and take us on?" Cierra scoffed in disbelief, the tentacles on the left half of her face writhing. "You're more foolish than I thought."
"How many times have I heard that before?" Renee muttered, rolling her eyes.
"Your game's over," Pop sneered, cocking her gun. "And the end ain't gonna be pretty."
"Maybe not—but we'll try to tidy up as best as we can," Bari responded.
"Nice," Abidan commented.
Suddenly, the emergency channel on Renee's communicator activated with a burst of static, and an unfamiliar voice ordered, "Stand down, Faithful! I repeat, stand down!"

Her voice lowered to a growl as she added, "But make no mistake, fools—when this is all over, I will murder each and every one of you."
The channel abruptly closed.
"...O-kay," Snake said slowly. "So... I guess we're not gonna die today."
"Lucky us." Renee pocketed her knife while Abidan did the same and Bari put away his machete. "Alright, ladies," the chairwoman said to the cultists. "Looks like we're teaming up."
Xirxine International.
Dr. Woods tapped her foot in thought. "Hmmmmm," she said, drawing out the sound. "They've used up half their time, the cheeky lot. Still formulating plans to rescue their dear director, perhaps?" She cast a glance in the unconscious Mr. Barakoa's direction. "The fools. There's no way they can reach him without getting past me first."
"They'll try regardless," Kipzie muttered. "They fancy themselves heroes." He scoffed. "Delusions of grandeur."
"Agreed. I—"
