Chapter 40

"Where's dad?" I ask when I got into Kelly's car and notice that Ray isn't in the car. I just got picked up by Kelly after I was at Henry's house, Piper wouldn't stop asking about Captain Man. I'm surprised they didn't even mention anything about Ray being Captain Man.

His parents found out about Ray being Captain Man, but they haven't told anyone even, Piper hasn't and Piper is taking everything so calmly with the fact that her bother is Kid Danger and she had a huge crush on Kid Danger.

Piper kept asking how it must feel to be Captain Mans daughter. She also kept taking pictures of me and posting them on Instagram, making random people come to the door and ask where I was cause everyone in town knows that I'm Captain Mans daughter.

Then it got into the conversation where she asked me if I liked Henry. I told her I do like Henry, but said for her not to tell Henry because I wanted to tell him myself.

"Do you like my brother?" Piper asked and I look at her as we are sitting in the living room, watching television and sitting on the couch. Popcorn was in between us and her mother and father were in the kitchen cleaning. She scooped her hand into the popcorn before stuffing it in her throat.

"Why would you think that?"

"Because he talks about you like all the time and it gets really annoying. Plus when he was in the hospital it seemed like you were about to kiss, Henry." She says. "Yes I know that Henry is Kid Danger, they do too," she said pointing her finger at her parents, "but we aren't going to tell anyone even me and that is so hard for me."

"Did you three figure it out?" She nods, taking out a Kid Danger poster, giving it a angry stare.

"Are you going to answer my question?" She asked, putting both thumbs at the top of the poster.

"Okay, fine I do like Henry. . . .a lot but don't tell him." I say and she looks at me.

"Why?"

"I want to tell him when he gets out of the hospital. We've liked each other since the day we met but we haven't told each other, because every time we get the chance someone or something ruins it. We are wanting to tell each other when we are alone." I explain and she groans, while nodding.

"Fine, I won't tell him or anyone, but what will Captain Man think?" She asked and I shrug. "I can't believe I even liked Kid Danger," she pauses," my own annoying brother!" She yells ripping the Kid Danger poster in half then ripping it again, and again until it is in small tiny pieces all over the couch.

"Piper. . .it's okay," I say but she shakes her head, "you didn't know."

"It's not okay! I'm not okay! I'll be back, I have to go to my room and rip all the rest of my Kid Danger posters." She said stomping up the stairs and disappearing from my sight.

Okay so maybe she isn't taking it calmly.

"Your father went for a walk. He'll be back home in a little bit." Kelly explained and as she presses on the gas and we pass Henry's house.

"Why did he go for a walk?" I asked and she shrugs slowly, her eyes fixed on the road and inhaling air.

"He needed to think about something's that you don't need to worry about." She says while sighing, pressing on the gas again then stopping at a red stop light.

"What happened at Rebecca's?" I ask and she clears her throat.

"Things you don't need to know and I'm sure Ray wouldn't like it if I told you something that happened." She says but I'm not going to take that for an answer. There's always some way to get Kelly to tell you what you need to know.
