Chapter 18

"Dad?" I heard Annabel ask as I was sitting at my desk. I turned around and seen she had her hands behind her back. She was wearing a black tank top with black leggings and jean shorts. She had a small smile on her face.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Can I ask you something? " She asked me.

"Of course." I said getting up and grabbing her hand. We both sat on the couch then I focused on Annabel.

"Can we get a dog?" She asked me while a weak smile formed on her face.

"Annabel do you know the responsibilities of having a dog or any other animal?" I asked. "You have to feed it, clean it, play with it, walk it, even pick up their business." I said as she pretended to say exactly what I said, moving her lips as I talked.

" I know that," she said crossing her arms, "but I really want one. I promise I'll take care of the dog, please." Annabel begs.

"Fine." I said and her eyes brightened.

After we adopted the dog that Annabel was wanting which is a German Shepherd husky mix. It's a guy and he's a strong, brave, fearless, curious, sweet, and loving dog. His name is Boomer and his name pretty much sums up everything about him. Annabel really loves this dog alot. Annabel and I went to the pet store and got a bag of dog food, dog bowls, a few toys, and treats. The dog bowls are going to be by the elevator.

I wonder how Boomer is going to react to all the flashing lights and loud beeping. He'll probably just bark and run around the man cave. Im hoping that if the alarm goes off in the middle of the night. That Boomer isn't going to bark and wake up Annabel. Also where is the dog going to go do his business? I guess I'll have to take him outside every few hours. Even though I don't think Boomer will like the elevator or the tubes.

All three of us are just about to walk into the elevator. Boomer is sniffing the floor with his tail wagging. Im carrying the bag of dog food Annabel is carrying the toys, treats, and dog bowls.

"Boomer get in the elevator." Annabel said as Boomer put his nose in a flower pot. It got stuck in the pot and Boomer started to bark in the pot it was loud. Boomer started to back up until his butt hit the wall in the elevator and he quickly turned around. The pot hit the wall and his nose got out of the pot. Annabel pressed the down button and the floor dropped. Annabel must have got use to this unlike Henry.

Boomer started to fly off the floor his paws weren't touching the floor at all. We finally landed and the doors opened. Boomer fell from that and Annabel almost dropped the bowls. Annabel and I walked out of the elevator as Boomer quickly ran out of the elevator. Suddenly Henry walks out behind the tubes. ''You got a dog!" Henry yelled as Boomer started sniffing the floor.

"Yeah his name is, Boomer." I said and Annabel put the dog stuff on the couch. Henry walked over to Boomer and he sniffed his pants and shoes. I walked over to the elevator then putting the food on the ground. I walked over to the bowls then picked them up. I placed one by the dog food then walked into the lab. I turned on the sink and filled the other dog bowl with cold water. I carefully walked out of the lab then to the elevator and placed the bowl next to the food bowl. "Annabel do you want something to eat?" I asked as Annabel picked up the dog toys.

"Sure, I guess." She repiled handing Henry a toy then they walked into the lab with Boomer. I heard Annabel's door shut as I walked over to the auto snack machine. I ordered a salad for her and a Coke for me. I put the Coke on my desk and walked into the lab. I heard Annabel and Henry laughing as Boomer barked.

Then I heard a crash like something broke. I quickly opened the door and seen Henry's mouth dropped as Annabel had her hand over her mouth. I looked over at Boomer who had broken a lamp I sighed as Henry and Annabel looked at me. "It's okay. It's just a lamp." I said handing Annabel her salad. She took it as Henry sat on her bed. "Be more careful." I said as Annabel put her fork in her salad. They both nodded while Boomer walked into the bathroom. I walked out of the room leaving the door open.

Henry went home saying that Annabel fell asleep with Boomer by her side. I slowly opened Annabel's door and seen that she was sleeping. She had her hand over Boomers back as he laid there. Annabel's head was by his head laying on a blue pillow. I smiled and started walking toward Annabel and Boomer.

When Boomer heard my foot steps his tail started wagging slowly. He lifted his head up to look at me as I gave Annabel a kiss on her forehead. I got down on one knee and stared into Boomers brown eyes.

Boomers tongue came out of his mouth and started hanging. I put my hand on the bed then he looked down at my hand and put his paw over mine. I smiled and then he came closer to my face and licked my face. I closed my eyes and turned my head to the left.

"That's just nice. . . .real nice Boomer." I said opening my eyes and turning my head back at him. I got off my knees and went back to my desk as I wiped my face and started working on finding out who is after Annabel.
