Chapter 44

~◆~Annabel's pov~◆~

"Henry!" I yell so loud the whole table goes quite. Complete silence. Half of the lunch room did too. I get up, dropping my fork on the ground. I ran toward Henry who's smiling but not moving. When I got up to Henry, I hugged him, wrapping my arms around his neck. I could hear his chuckle as he pats my back.

"Hey Annabel." Henry says laughing, hugging me back but only with one hand. I push my face into his neck and squeeze him a little.

"What are you doing here? Your suppose to be in the hospital. Your still hurt. "I say unwrapping my arms from around his neck. He nods and smiles showing his teeth.

"The doctor told me I could get out of the hospital today if I wanted too. Then I went to get you these," Henry pulls his other hand from behind his back, holding purple and pink tulips. My favorite flowers. I gasp as a smile formed on both of our faces. I hugged Henry again, tighter than last time," Annabel be careful. I'm still in a little pain." He adds and I nod as we pull apart and stare at each other for a few seconds, until he speaks up and says. "Annabel I have to tell you something and ask you something really important." I nod and right as he's about to continue a teacher comes out of no where and buts in.

Why!

"What are you two doing?" It's a guy teacher with dark brown hair, light green eyes wearing a gray tie, black pants, a white buttoned up shirt, and black shoes.

"We're just about to go back to lunch." I said and he motions for us to walk away. Henry slowly grabs my hand and I blush as we both look down at the floor, making our way to the table. We finally get to the lunch table with Mortikiy, Scarlet, and Chloe. I sit down and Henry sits down with us he lets go of my hand and I suck in air as everyone looks over at Henry. Scarlet's eyes growing wide and when Henry met Scarlet's gaze she quickly looks away, blushing.

"Guys this is Henry my friend," I say, "Henry this is Mortikiy, Scarlet, and last Chloe." I add and he nods, grabbing my spoon and dipping it into my food and stuffing it in his mouth. He smiles at me, innocently.

"I haven't ate yet." Henry replies to my face and I roll my eyes, playfully.

"Oh my gosh are those flowers?" Chloe asked as Scarlet was giggling and Mortikiy looked angry at Henry.

"Uh yeah there for Annabel." Henry replies and from the corner of my eye I could see Mortikiy glaring at Henry, giving him a death look. Henry glances over at Mortikiy and glares back at him, giving him a death look too. Mortikiy puts a hand on my shoulder and I feel a spark in my body again, causing shivers to run down my spine. Henry hands me the flowers and I smile, blushing badly.

What is going on?

"Aw how cute." Scarlet says and Chloe jumps up and down in her chair.

"Oh my gosh. . . . I have an idea." Her smile grows wider as Henry glances at me and has the face that says what-is-wrong-with-her? I laugh at his face but my laughing is cut off by Chloe again. "Henry you should ask Annabel out to the winter prom." Chloe claps her hands together.

"There's a winter prom?" I ask and she nods.

"It's suppose to be amazing, it's next Friday they posted poster's around the school that's how we knew about it." Scarlet said as Chloe's smile is getting so big. I could feel Mortikiy and Henry's eyes on me.

Well, this is unexpecting.

"Henry ask her," Chloe says, "come on make your move dude! Before someone else does!" Henry leans back, surprised.

"I'll ask Annabel when we're alone. I have to tell her something anyway and I would like us to be alone." Henry says with a large grin and I felt a smile form on my face. Then the bell rings and Mortikiy, Scarlet, and Chloe walk to their next class. Henry and I walk to Math which we both have together.

During Math Henry almost got in trouble because he was passing me a note in class. The teacher took the note and read it out loud in class but thankfully the only thing that was on the note was 'I missed you so much when I was in the hospital.'

When we got out of class there were posters up all around the school that read "Winter prom next Friday 10:00pm-11:30pm." I turned around to look at Henry, but he wasn't there. Scarlet comes up to me and points at the poster.

"See Winter Prom, and I know Henry's going to ask you out. "I nod as she continues but I act like I was paying attention but I really wasn't. I was really looking for Henry.

I search around the hallways with my eyeballs, until I saw Henry talking to Mortikiy. Mortikiy is a few inches taller than Henry, which makes Henry look weak but in my eyes he's stronger than Mortikiy. Then Mortikiy says something and Henry looks down at the ground, nodding. Mortikiy pulls him into a hug and whispers something in his ear. Then Mortikiy walks toward me and speaks.

"Hey Annabel." He had a smirk on his face.

"What was going on with Henry and you?" I ask and he shakes his head.

"Nothing much, Henry pulled me over and told me that he wanted to take Scarlet to prom. I don't know why but he said I could take you to prom." He replies and I nod, slowly, looking back but don't see Henry any where around the hallways anymore.

Henry wouldn't just say that. He doesn't even know Mortikiy or Scarlet. Some things up and I want to know now. This could be a set up.

When I sit down in my chair the bell rings, I notice Mortikiy writing something down on a piece of paper from across the room. I sit in the back and Mortikiy sits in the front of the class, next to the teacher.

"Okay class today we are going to be writing poems. You can share the poem out loud to the whole class or not, your choice." I pull out a lined paper and look at the board, thinking about something to write. When I suddenly get the idea to write something about Henry. Or not? Or maybe I should do the father and daughter relationship between Ray and I.

"Um hello," I heard someone speak. I glance up and saw Mortikiy standing in front of the class, looking at me most of all, "I have a poem that I would like to read out loud. This poem is dedicated to Annabel." My eyes widen as everyone looks at me and Mortikiy reads.

What I'm trying to say is

Will you be my date to the Winter prom?

Everyone looks at me as Mortikiy glances at me, worry and hope fills his eyes. I glance at Chloe who's nodding like crazy her head could fall off. The room is silent, everyone is waiting for my answer.

But I want to go to prom with Henry, wait. . . .never mind he's going with Scarlet. . . right?

I glance over at Mortikiy and inhale air while replying.

"Yes."
