Dib sat at the table and read the morning paper, as usuall his father Doctor Membrane was on the front page, the article praising the wonderfull speech he gave on one of his newest brilliant inventions. Dib took a sip of his coffee when he heard his wife call out his name, panic evident in her voice. Dib rushed up the stairs and opened the door to his son's room where he heard his wife's shaking voice call out to him "What's wrong!?" Dib asked before he felt his heart stop.
Dibs wife looked at her husband fear reflected in her emerald eyes as she stood next to an open window and an empty bed. "Sweetheart" Dib asked trying to stay as calm as possible "Where's Ash?" His wife shook her head and covered her mouth shaking "When I came in.. The window- I. I - I don't dare look.."
Dib glanced between his wife and the open window of his son's second story high bedroom window. "Go call the police" he commanded his wife. Lizzy nodded and rushed past Dib as he stood still his gaze stuck to the open window. Eventually, after an amount of time he couldn't really say, Dib walked over to his son's bed and looked out the window praying he wouldn't see his sons crippled body sprawled across the yard below him. But to his surprise he didn't. Dib relaxed for just a second before sinking into a much deeper fear. Because if his son hadn't fallen, then where was he? Dib rushed back inside "I need to tell lizzy!" He thought, his mind lost to the horror "And the police."

After about an hour of asking and awncering questions, Dib thanked the officer he was talking to and glanced back at the house.
"Don't you and your wife worry," the officer assured "We'll find him, there are officers all over looking for him now as we speak." Dib nodded and watched as the officer turned and walked over to one of the other numerous officers that where patrolling the area. "Please be safe" he thought to himself, "Your mother and I are so worried..."

Three days had passed with no sign of Ash, Dib sat at the table fiddling a pencil between his fingers as he talked on the phone to his sister.
"Yea Gaz, I was talking with one of the officers and they said that it looked like a break in"
...
"The window's lock was broken and pried open"
...
"No we don't have any suspects or leads"
...
"Because no one knows how they got through a second story window without being noticed"
...
"Yea we're both really worried,"
...
"She had to go to work today and I'm still working from home for the time being"
...
Dib turned and looked out the window feeling lost and confused "I don't know what else we could- "
Dib cut off mid sentence his eyes widening with what he saw, the muffled voice of his confused sister on the other line was interupted as he quickly tried to stammer out what was going on.
"Oh My Stars Gaz! He's Outside! I-I Have To Let You Go!" Dib practically slammed his phone down onto the table as he got up running for the back door, Gaz tried yelling into the phone to get her brothers attention but at that point he was already gone.

Dib threw open the sliding glass door that led onto their balcony, he didn't bother closing it as he ran as fast as his legs could carry him out into the back yard that lined up against the woods. "Ash!" He called out tears streaming down his face.
His son, who seemed oblivious to his calls, just stood there looking out into the woods as if something within them was distracting him, demanding his attention.
"Ash!" Dib called out again as he grew closer to his son, having heard his father this time Ash turned his head just in time to be engulfed in a tight hug. "Daddy?" Ash asked seeming both confused and shocked with his father's actions. "Ash baby everything is ok, everything is ok" Dib murmered through heavy tears. Ash looked up at his father and noticed that he was crying "Daddy what's wrong!?" Ash asked worriedly. Dib smiled looking into his sons big bright golden eyes "Nothing is wrong i'm just happy that your ok" Ash hugged his father seeming content with the awncer and happily obliged as his father scooped him up into his arms "Come on let's get you inside."
Dib turned and started walking back to the house. Ash was looking back over his father's shoulder when he noticed something within the shadows, two large glimmering magenta eyes and a pair of long anteni peeking out from behind a tree. Ash went to call out but stopped when a gloved hand rose up to the creatures mouth signaling for him to stay silent. With a nod Ash buried his head into his father's shoulder as he and the creature watched one another in a strangely calm yet chilling silence that I'm sure no one, not even they, had noticed untill the trees had blocked their view, and a door closed between them.
