Blood warning
~~~
Dib stood at the door to room B.23 his hand just hovering over the bloodied handle. "This is it." Dib thought "Just beyond this everything could either turn into a dream or a nightmare." With one last deep breath Dib griped onto the handle, stepped forward, and pushed the door open.
Dib took in a gasp as the feel of the room swept over him. The air felt hot sticky and stagnant, the sent of metal and blood heavy in the air. The cream walls where splashed and speckled in a bloody pink, the carpet and bed heavily stained in colors of both deep magenta and crimson red.
A small figure lay curled up in the corner between the bed and the wall, he wore a pink uniform and black boots, one of his gloves where off revealing a heavily injured arm wich he held over his head, trembling with his whole body. "Please..." the trembling figure begged.
Zim stoped as he heard the door close "Have they left?" Zim thought as he opened his eyes and glanced at the door, before sitting straight up his eyes wide.
There, standing in front of the door, almost leaning on it for balance was Dib. Zim's eyes sparkled as he looked at him "D-Dib" his voice stuttered in almost unbelief and awe. Dib dropped to the floor as the strength fell from his legs, causing Zim to flinch back. "I-I can't believe it" Dib muttered. Zim pressed himself back against the wall as Dib looked up at him, new tears in his eyes and a true smile on his lips "It really is you." Dib choked out using every ounce of will he had left to not start bawling right then and there.
Zim felt tears start to slide down his own cheeks as the two sat across from each other for the first time in thirteen years.
Dib leaned back off of his hands and opened his arms "Come here space boy." He called.
Zim stood up and looked at his friend, arms open and smiling to see him. Without a second thought Zim ran over and collided into Dib's arms as they wrapped around him in a tight hug. A shaking voice laughed above him as he snuggled into the warm embrace of his friend.
"I hate You so much right now." Dib choked as he hugged Zim tighter. "You run off. then suddenly just come back, what the heck is wrong with you!" Dib yelled as he choked out the emotions he had been holding back, his feelings spilling over edge as he griped onto the little alien.
Zim slowly pushed himself back from Dib his gaze on the floor as he broke from the trembling Dib's grasp. "Z-Zim is sorry" he muttered "I-I know Zim promised the Dib that I would never come back."
Dib could only stare at Zim as he pored out his guilt in front of him. "Zim tried, Zim really did. But Zim just got so lonely after a time. I know Zim had Gir and Minimose to keep Zim company. But it just wasn't the same..." Zim's eyes stayed glued to the floor as he whimpered "Zim tried to go back to the Irken Empire, but they called Zim a traitor and a deserter locking me away. T-They took everything and they destroyed it in front of me.. Zim just barely was able to escape by rewiring a ship to avoid being tracked.." Zim finally looked up at Dib, hot sticky tears streaming down his face. "Zim tried not to betray Dib's promise, Zim really tried. Z-Zim is sorry!"
Dib looked down at Zim and shook his head and placing his hands on his shoulders "Oh Zim I'm not mad at you for coming back!" Zim's mood flicked like a switch "You're not?" He asked in stunned confusion, his voice still choked from his sobs.
Dib narrowed his eyes, remembering just how upset he actually was at the alien "I'm mad at you for leaving me in the first place!"
Zim's confusion dissolved into anger as he grabbed onto Dib's wrist "But you told Zim to leave" he growled "I-I know Zim" Dib confessed, his anger completely gone. While Zim's however, began to climb. "Then Please Explain How This Is Zim's Fault!" he snarled, slapping one of Dib's hands off his shoulder while his sharp claws cut deeply into the other. Dib winced at both the venom in Zim's voice and the pain of him crushing his wrist "Please Zim!" Dib winced as the claws cut deeper, those words clearly not what the irken wanted to hear "It's Not your Fault! IT'S MINE!" Dib choked out causing both him and Zim to freeze.
"I was mad..." Dib confessed "And I said a bunch of stupid things I didn't mean." Zim loosened his grip on Dib's wrist as he spoke, clearly just as guilt ridden as Zim had been moments ago. "It's all my fault... and yet I spent years trying to convince myself that it was yours...I'm sorry Zim.." Dib whimpered as he began to cry "I'm sorry..."
Zim released his grip on Dib's wrist and stood up looking down down at his formal rival who now kneeled crumpled before him, his sobbing causing tears to soak the tattered carpet.
Sliding his hands onto Dib's cheeks, Zim lifted Dib's gaze up to meet his. Holding Dib's head in his hands, Zim used the gentlest sweep of his fingers to wipe away the humans tears. With a slight smirk Zim looked down on Dib "You're ugly when you cry Dib-Beast" he said, a softness to his voice.
with a light and strained sounding chuckle Dib reached his hand up to rub Zim's damp cheeks, "Yea? Well So are you." he mused. A crooked grin parted across Zim's lips as he looked down at his formal rival turned best friend. "Don't be ridiculous Dib, Zim is flawless" he boasted before he was promptly pulled down into a kiss.
Dib's eyes seemed to shine as they parted lips, a sweet and longing smile across his face as he gazed into Zim's faux violet eyes. "I've been waiting thirteen years to be able to do that again." Dib whispered breathlessly. Zim let out a huff pulling Dib in closer, thier faces inches apart "It feels like I've been waiting longer." he confessed before bringing Dib into another, far more passionate kiss.
