Chapter 3
Selena's POV
Grocery shopping with Justin was odd, for lack of a better word.
He pushed the cart around but was on his phone the entire time. I tried to ask him what he wanted, seeing as it was his home but I either wouldn't get an answer or he would just mumble something illegible so eventually I didn't bother. I just bought things for me and Jason.
Now we were back home and I was putting away the groceries. Jason was in his room, playing with his action figures and Justin had disappeared somewhere.
The sound of the elevator opening was heard then voices as they made their way to wherever they were going.
Two people stopped at the entrance of the kitchen. There was a lady who looked like she was in her late forties or early fifties and a Spanish man who looked to be in his late twenties.
"Uh...hi." I spoke awkwardly.
"Hello. Are you Mr. Bieber's....wife?" The lady asked.
"Yeah."
"I'm Maria." She smiled. "I'm the housekeeper."
"And I'm Miguel, the chef." The man spoke for the first time with a friendly smile on his face.
"I'm Selena." I said, not sure what to say.
"Well Mrs. Bieber, why don't you go do something while we do our jobs?" Maria said politely.
"Please call me Selena." I told her. "And do you need any help?"
"No, no. Of course not." Miguel spoke.
"Are you sure?"
"We're sure. Go enjoy yourself dear." Maria said, lightly pushing me out of the kitchen.
I stumbled out of the kitchen and deciding I had nothing better to do, I walked around a little, familarizing myself with the place.
I stopped outside a room with a white door. Not knowing what was inside there, I placed my hand on the door handle and turned only to find it locked.
"What are you doing?" A cold voice called from behind me.
Spinning around, I saw Justin. "I was exploring the house a little and was about to go into that room but it's locked."
"It's locked for a reason. This room is off limits." He practically growled, his eyes dark and cold.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know..." I said softly, feeling slightly afraid of him. He was practically shaking with rage and I had no idea why.
"Stay away from here. That goes for your son too." He said in a menacingly low voice.
I nodded in response and turned my back, quickly scurrying away from there. I looked back once and saw him leaning his head against the door, his eyes closed.
What was in that room that made him react like that?
I knew I wouldn't be getting an answer anytime soon so I decided not to dwell on that too much.
I stopped walking when I realized I was in front of Jason's room. I opened the door and found him on the bed staring at the television.
"Hey Jase, you alright?"
"Yeah." He sighed.
I frowned slightly and walked over to him.
"What's wrong baby?" I asked sitting down.
He crawled into my lap and rested his head on my chest, my arms instantly encircling him.
"I want to go home."
I sucked in a breath.
"This is home now. It's going to be for a long while."
"I miss Grandpa and my friends." He told me.
"I know sweetheart but it'll get better, I promise. Do you want to call Grandpa and talk to him?"
"No." He shook his head. "I want to go home." He repeated and I felt something wet seep through the thin top I was wearing.
"We can't." I told him.
"I don't like it here.I didn't want to come but Grandma said that if I came I'd get to have a daddy but I still don't have one." He cried and my heart squeezed painfully.
I didn't know how to answer that so I hugged him tighter and tried to calm him down.
Eventually he stopped crying and fell asleep. I wiped away the tears from his face before reaching up and wiping away a few from mine.
Why did my mom make such promises?
Justin made it clear he was in no way going to be a father to Jason so how could my mom say that he would get a father?
I held him for a while longer before I was called down for dinner but I wasn't in the mood to eat so I passed and got ready for bed earlier.
I was finished changing and had walked out of the bathroom when Justin walked into the room.
I wasn't sure if he was still angry or not so I just stood silently.
"I uh, I'm sorry about earlier." He said, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's just that there are things in that room that aren't meant for anyone to see. I didn't mean to scare you, so I'm sorry." He finished.
"It's okay." I told him because honestly it was. I had bigger problems to deal with than him getting angry.
"Good." He nodded and walked into the closet. A moment later he walked back out, his pajamas in hand and went to the bathroom.
I waited until the door was closed before I made my way over to the bed. I laid down on the left side of the bed, facing the window.
I pulled the blanket over me but kept my eyes open as I stared at the night sky, thinking about everything but at the same time nothing.
I must have been like that for a few minutes because I heard the bathroom door open, then I saw Justin walk over to the window and pull the shade down, then crawl into bed next to me.
My body tensed when he got under the covers.
"Relax, I'm not going to do anything."
"I know, it's just reflex I guess." I explained.
He didn't say anything after that then his soft snores were heard and I allowed myself to fall asleep.
