Chapter 18

Selena's POV

"Sel? Baby who was that?" Justin asked later as I was pacing the room.

I looked at him and I must have looked like a wreck because he opened his arms for me.

I walked over and crawled onto his lap, wrapping my arms around his waist and burying my head in his chest.

"He's back." I whispered.

"Who? I'm not following babe."

"He's Jason's dad."

He stayed silent waiting for me to go on.

"I've known him my entire life. Our parents are best friends and business partners. He was my best friend from the time I knew what a best friend was. We were like all other childhood lovers. We gave our first kiss to each other and when we were six, we got married in my backyard with our nannies as witnesses. We were the best best friends and the perfect couple. But then everything changed."

I took a shaky breath and he hugged me tighter.

"Our relationship started going downhill in senior year. He became a stereotypical jock. He got addicted to partying and drinking then he never had time for me. The only time we had together we were always around people. Then came the sex. I wasn't ready. I knew that but all his friends had already done the deed and he wanted to have sex as well. There were girls at school that wanted him. I was never popular and everyone always wondered why he was with me. I knew he was going to break up with me. But I loved him. I really believed I did and I told myself I needed him. I couldn't lose him. So I did it. I gave up my virginity to him. I was his puppet. Sometimes he would hit me when he was drunk bit I let it slide because he was drunk. After that we'd do it whenever he wanted. But I fell pregnant. And when I told him I was pregnant he told me he didn't want the baby. He told me to abort the baby. I told him no so he broke up with me and told me he wanted nothing to do with me. I decided I wasn't going to kill my baby so I'd be a single mom. I told my parents and they talked to his parents. Next day they came over and threatened me. They warned me that if I let everyone know the baby's dad was Cole they'd hurt him. I knew they were capable of that so I agreed. The friendship they shared with my parents was over. Taylor helped me and my parents did too. I thought I had gotten away and I'd never see him again but he's back. Why is he here Justin?" I cried.

I was scared. So so scared.

What if he was here for Jason?

"He works for us in California. My dad relocated him. But I'll talk to him. I'll try get him out of the city okay? I won't let him hurt you. You have me now." He soothed.

"B-but what if he's here to hurt Jason?"

"He's not. He's not here for him. And I won't let him get close enough to hurt him. You guys are safe with me. I promise."

I hugged him tighter allowing him to comfort me.

I really hope he was right...

"Mommy." I felt something poke my cheek and I opened my eyes seeing Jason's silhouette with a blanket falling off his arms.

"Hmm?" I mumbled, still in a sleepy daze.

"Can I sleep with you tonight? I had a bad dream." 

"Of course, come here." I opened my arms for him. 

He crawled over me and settled himself between me and Justin and I turned to face him, wrapping my hand around his waist.

"Good night."

"Good night."

Justin's POV

The alarm went off and I rolled over, quickly taking it off. I relaxed back in the bed and noticed Jason was here and he and Selena were both cuddled up together.

Selena was knocked out cold but he stirred as he began to wake up.

"Good morning." I leaned over and kissed his cheek when he opened his eyes.

"Morning." He mumbled as he blinked rapidly.

"How about we leave her to sleep and go get ready?" I whispered so he wouldn't wake her up.

"Okay." He stretched his arms for me and I picked him up, taking him to our bathroom and placing hi on the counter.

"Wait here." I told him and he hummed in agreement.

I went to his bathroom and got his toothbrush and toothpaste before going back to our bathroom to find him falling asleep on himself.

"Hey little dude, you gotta wake up."

"But I'm sleepy." He whined and my heart went out for the kid. Don't ask me why because I have no idea.

"How about this? Instead of you going to school, you can go back to sleep."

"Really?"

"Yeah why not? It's only the second day of preschool." 

"Deal. Are you coming too?"

"No can do, little dude. I have to go to work but I'll come home early today, okay?"

"Okay." He fell back into my arms and I carried him back to our bed and tucked him in before getting ready for work.

"Send him back dad, I don't want him here." I told my father.

"Why should I send him back? He requested a change to New York and I agreed to give him a test run under you."

"I don't care. Send him back. I don't want him here and if you won't send him back I'll fire him. As the CEO I have that right."

"Fire him for what exactly?" 

"Anything I want."

"You won't stop until he's gone will you?"

"Absolutely not." 

He studied me. "Fine, I'll say we don't have any room for him here without having to relocate one of our workers."

"Thank you." I breathed a sigh of relief.  "And I want him gone as soon as possible."

"You want to tell me what he did that made you hate him so much." 

My jaw clenched just thinking about it. 

"It's not my business to tell." I answered. "Now if you excuse me, I have work to do."
