Chapter 17

Selena's POV

It had been two hours since we got here. Justin had already finished one meeting and was currently in his other one.

He assigned his personal assistant, a young girl fresh out of college, to make sure I was comfortable.

Poor girl was so nervous to be around me even after I assured her multiple times that I wasn't going to get her fired. I guess she was used to the boss' wife to be mean?

Whatever it was she had placed a bunch of drinks and snacks for me that I had been picking on for the last two hours while she went to do her job.

I played around on his computer for a little while longer before deciding my bladder was too full to wait any longer.

I opened the office door and got directions to the bathroom. I relieved myself before heading back to the room but I froze in my tracks once I saw who was standing outside the door, speaking to the secretary.

She called me over and taking a deep breath I began walking again.

It's not him.

He's still in California.

Right?

What would he be doing here?

I was trying to reassure myself but all rational thoughts flew out of my mind when I stopped in front him.

He was here.

"Mrs. Bieber, this is Cole Knight. He's the son of one of Mr. Bieber's business partners. Sir, this is Mr. Bieber's wife."

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Bieber." He smirked, extending his hand for me to shake.

I hesitantly did so, flashing him a nervous smile.

Why was he here?

Why was he acting as though we were strangers?

"Okay, as I said, you can have a seat and I'll send you in when Mr. Bieber's finished with his meeting." She gestured to some seats and he nodded and made his way to them.

"When will Justin's meeting be over?" I asked the second I was sure he wouldn't be able to hear our conversation.

"Uhm," She glanced at her watch. "He should be wrapping up around now."

I nodded, "Do you know why he's here?"

"I think his dad was supposed to meet up with Mr. Bieber but he couldn't make it so he sent him in place." 

"Okay thank you. I'm just going to the cafe if Justin asks." I excused myself.

I hurried to the elevator feeling his piercing gaze following me.

The doors closed and I leaned against the doors letting out a deep breath. 

He wasn't here for us, right?

He wouldn't be...

He didn't care...

Please don't let him be...

I was pulled back into reality when the elevator dinged, alerting me that I was on the ground floor.

I got myself some coffee and sat down at a vacant table.

We had two hours more or less before we needed to get Jason so once again I allowed my thoughts to consume me while I waited on Justin.

Heaven knows I wasn't going back up there with him...

Justin's POV

I wrapped up my meeting with Cole Knight, the son of one of our partners.

Something was off about him though.

I don't know what it was but he was nothing like his father.

He gave off a vibe that I wasn't too fond off and honestly speaking I would rather not work with him but his father sent him so I had no choice.

Or maybe I was just losing it.

We had a little less than an hour before we had to go for Jason but I decided to leave early today nonetheless.

I was told Selena was in the cafeteria so I gathered my stuff and made my way there.

I instantly spotted her sitting by herself at a table, staring an empty coffee cup in front of her.

I walked closer but got no reaction from her until I snapped my fingers in front her face.

She jumped and looked up at me.

"Are you finished?"

"Mhm. Are you okay?"

"Yeah fine." She replied unconvincingly.

I raised an eyebrow and she sighed.

"I'll tell you later. Can we just go get Jason? Even though it's a little early I'm sure they wouldn't mind since it's the first day and all..."

"Sure, let's go."

I wrapped an arm around her and she wrapped one around my waist as we made our way to the carpark.

"Nice seeing you again Selena." I turned my head as did Selena to see Cole behind us.

He had an evil looking smirk on his face and a devilish glint in his eyes as he continued.

"We'll meet up soon."

Selena's breathing turned ragged and I had to quicken my pace to keep up with her.

We got to the car and after we settled in I noticed she was antsy but when she looked at me I saw pure fear in her eyes, solidifying my gut feelings about him.

He was no good, especially is she was reacting like this to him.

Who was this guy? And what has he done to Selena?
