Kiss Me

Chapter 20

It was the night of the JR prom. I was in my room with Ashley, and we were fixing our hair after putting on our dresses. My dress was tie dyed, and reached down to my ankles in the back, and just below my knees in the front. It was smoky-grey on the top portion of the dress, then it came down in waves with the blue all the way to the bottom. It was a spaghetti strap dress with a trail in the back and was beautiful. I had gotten it in 9th grade during spring break, when my family and i went to Africa to visit my oldest sister in Kenya.

Ashley had a blue dress also, except it went down to her knees, and had a white band that went around her waist and was tied in a bow in the front. Her dress was also a spaghetti strap, just thicker, and the straps were white. She looked stunning. Jared was gonna fall over in shock of her beauty. And Aaron...i didn't know. I thought i just looked average. Not as beautiful as Ashley. She was ALWAYS beautiful.

We were hardly wearing makeup since we didn't really need it, only mascara and eyeliner. Nothing else. Finally, when I finished curling my hair, it came down in waves and bounced up and down whenever i moved. My hair went down to the center of my back. Ashley's hair was straightened and went down to just below her shoulders.

"You ready?" Ashley asked, looking at me. "Yeah." I said, taking a deep breath. Just then, we heard a HONK in the driveway of my house, Jared and Aaron were here. "Oookay." I said nervously. Then, Ashley and i began our descent down the stairs leading to the door. The guys were talking with my parents and immediately looked up when they heard us coming down the stairs. Ashley had reached Jared first, and as i looked at him, he had eyes only for Ashley. I smiled at that. Then, i looked at Aaron. He had a dazzling smile plastered on his face, and was looking me up and down. "Oh don't think i don't see you checking me out!" I said, smirking as Aaron quickly turned his attention back to my face.

"Well, i can't lie, you look -" "dazzling, stunning, beautiful?" I interrupted him. "I was going to say, sexy." He said, chuckling. "Oh, well, that works too." I said, smiling.

"No no no!!! Get OUT of my head!!!"

We drove to the school and parked in the street since the parking lot was overcrowded. "Well girls, are you ready to get your partay on?" Aaron said, while opening my door. Jared was doing the same, except opening Ashley's door. "Yeah! You ready to get crazy?" Jared exclaimed while sweeping a squealing Ashley off her feet. "YES!" Ashley and i yelled in unison. We all burst out laughing from that. It was like Ashley and i were sisters. We knew eachother so well, and we were always together. Everyone started calling us "The inseperable sisters" we liked it though. It fit us.

After taking the pictures with our prom dates, we entered the gym where the party was. It was crowded and full of loud music. There was a new song coming on, and then Ashley and Jared shouted together; "YESSS!!!" I was confused for a second, but then i realized what song it was. It was "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. Thier FAVORITE song ever. And now they were dancing the exact same way as in "Perks of Being A Wallflower" When Sam and Patrick dance to "Come On Eileen". They looked so cute together. When they started dancing in a circle, Aaron and i joined with them, and we went crazy.

STOP! Please! Stop! Leave me alone!!! I screamed, running to...i have no idea.

Then, "Sweet Disaster" by Whitehorse came on. "Holy shit!" Aaron said. "Oh..my...god. c'mon!! Lets dance! We've been working so hard on it!!! Hey, Hailey!! Would you mind telling the DJ to start the song over? And Ashley and Jared, start forming a circle to give us space!!" I yelled, giving orders. The song stopped, and then everyone was in a circle around us. "You ready?" I asked Aaron. "Yes!" He said. Then, the music started over. BUM BUM BUM BUBU BUM BUM Aaron and i started swinging our hips to the beat, and then he took me in his arms in a twirl then a lean to the floor with him holding my back. We pulled up, walking in a short tango, then we split, me twirling over and over, Aaron doing the same. We got back together once we went around the whole circle, then Aaron grabbed my waist, and pushed me up to where my belly was on his chest, and my arms up in the air. He pulled me back down, then we tapped our feet to the beat. BUM BUM BUM BUBU BUM BUM. Aaron and i held hands where i was facing him, and he swung me down through his legs, he twirled around, to grab my hands and pull me up, and i twirled up 'till i landed on my feet again. The music slowed to the ending, and Aaron held my back to hold me as i leaned down, facing him, my back towards the floor, his hand holding my right hand and his face inches from mine.

The song ended, and the whole gym erupted into applause and whistles. "THAT...WAS...AWESOME!!! HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!?!?" Ashley exclaimed, amazement on her face. "We practiced." I said, smiling while looking at Aaron. "Ooooohhh!!! You "practiced" huh?" Jake joked as the rest of our group, or clique surrounded us.

Later on, after Aaron, Ashley, Jared and i had gotten punch, "Kiss Me" by Ed Sheeran came on, and everyone started slow dancing. " Shall we?" Aaron asked me, smiling warmly. "Yes, i would love to." I replied. Aaron held my right hand with his left one on my waist, and my left hand on his shoulder. We started swaying to the music. "And your heart's against my chest, your lips pressed in my neck..." Aaron and i shifted postion to where both of his arms were wrapped around my waist, and my arms pressed on his lower back, my head resting on his shoulder. " I love you." Aaron whispered in my ear. "I love you too." I replied.

Tears were streaming down my cheeks now. I was still running.

Then, i pulled back to when our faces were only inches away, and i looked right in his eyes. Right into his choclate brown eyes. They were full of love and care. "Kiss me" I said to him. Then, his lips pressed against mine gently, and full of desire. The kiss was nothing like any kiss i have ever experienced. It was so full of love, that i forgot about everything around me. I only focused on the person in front of me. The one person i loved. Everything was muffled and blurred around us. Nothing could ever break us apart.

When we finally broke apart, i had to fight for breath, since i was holding it while our lips were glued together. I loved Aaron . And i always will.

After that, Aaron and i just kept slow dancing, even when it wasn't a slow song, and even when it was off-beat. We just enjoyed our time together, and stayed like that untill Ashley and Jared had to break us apart. That night, Ashley drove with Jared in the front, and Aaron and i in the back. I was fast asleep right when the seatbelt clicked, and when i was safe in Aaron's arms. My head resting against his chest, my arms around his neck and his arms around my waist. The last thing i heard before i fell asleep was;"I love you Seqouia Lee March, undoubtedly, utterly and unconditionally in love with you. I love you. I always will."

"I love you too. I'm so-so sorry Aaron...i should have been the one to die. It should have been me! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!!! WHY DIDNT YOU JUST KILL ME INSTEAD OF HIM?!?!" I yelled at the sky. "I HATE YOU! I hate you! I-" I fell on the grass, sobbing, screaming, and pounding the ground with my fists.

"Sequoia! Hey- hey, it's okay." Nick said in a coaxing voice while taking me in his arms. "NO! GET-GET OFF ME! GET-" I screamed, trying my hardest to make him let go of me, but he was too strong. He pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around me firmly, protecting me. "Please! Just..." I said more quietly as i struggled less and less. "You're going to be okay, you're safe, I'm here." Nick said in a quiet and calming voice.

The last thing i saw before someone stuck a needle in my leg was Aaron. He was kneeling beside me, saying "I love you Seqouia, but you need to let go."
"AARON!! No!!! Aaron ..." Everything went dark.
