Chapter 21

I opened my eyes, blinking them a few times because of the sunlight streaming into the room. It was my bedroom. I sat bolt upright, but then got a head rush and i felt hands pushing me back down. "Hey, take it easy!" A voice said beside me. It was Nick.

"Wha-what happened?" I asked grogily. "Well, after you ran out of the cafeteria Wednesday, you ran out to the track and started freaking out. Th-" "Wait." I said, cutting him off. "You said Wednesday. Why did you say "Wednesday" instead of yesterday?" I asked, confused.

"Sequoia...you've been out for a week." Nick said slowly. "What? That means it's...Tuesday. WHY HAVE I BEEN OUT FOR A WEEK?!?" I said, practically yelling at him. "WHOA!! Calm down Seqouia!!! You weren't calming down after the nurse and i had found you, so the nurse gave you a sedative."

"WHAT?!?! YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO KNOCK ME OUT FOR ONE WEEK?!?!?" Now i was really yelling at him. "I'm sorry Seqouia. You just weren't calming down! We...we had to." "WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE LEFT ME THERE?!?!" I screamed. "Better yet, why couldn't you have given me something that would have killed me?" I said more softly, my voice cracking. "I WISH I HAD DIED!!! WHY CAN'T YOU JU-OW!!!" I felt something like a needle being injected into my arm. I once again fell into darkness while tears streamed down my face.

It was a month later after that day when i had once again had to be sedated after freaking out. I was walking to school with Nick, and we were joking happily and laughing like crazy. After that day a month ago, i guess you could say that i got better, and was starting to let go. I no longer had nightmares, flashbacks or saw Aaron. But i did have a lot of memories. I learned to cherish and savor them rather than push them away. I still missed all my friends, but i have new ones now.

There is Nick who is my closest friend. Then there's Mitch who is gay. He is an awesome guy and has a HUGE crush on one of the hottest guys at school, but doesn't give up trying to win him over. Then, there is Cassie and Will. They are currently dating, and are inseperable. Literally. They are SUPER in love with eachother, and sometimes reminds me of Ashley and Jared. But that's all of us. A small group i know, but we're very close, and they kinda form a protective shell around me, and i like that eventhough I'm like the mother of the group.

I am met with a chorus of "Hey Sequoia and Nick!!!" When i arrive to my locker and see my familar group form in a circle around me, kinda like a force field. "So...you two going out yet?" Mitch asks with a mischievous grin. "What?" I ask not paying attention to half of what Mitch is saying since im too busy getting my books ready for first hour. "Oh yeah. You gonna ask her?" I heard Cassie say quietly to Nick behind me. "You know that i can hear every word you guys are saying right?" I say, turning around to look at my friends. What i find is so shocking and suprising that i almost drop my books.

Nick is kneeling down on one knee and is holding out my ring made out of a shell in his hand. "Seqouia, will you go out with me?" Nick asks with a dazzling smile. "Uhhhh..." i say, not sure of what to say. "Oh come on Sequoia!!! Just give him a chance!!" Will says. "Y-yes." I choke out. "YES!!" Cassie and Mitch squeal, Mitch imitating a girl's voice. Then, when Nick stands up and puts my ring on my finger, i jump up and hug him happily. "Whoa! Didn't see that coming!!" Nick exclaimed.

Then, Nick and i walk with our group to our first hour, holding hands tightly as if in fear of being torn apart.
