Chapter 17 - Am I a Superhero, now?

I jerked myself awake from the flashback resulting in an extreme headache. I groaned as I propped myself up on one of my aching arms and felt nothing but cold, wet floor. I blinked trying to wipe away the throbbing pain but all I got was more pain.

"Hayley?" I heard a voice barely whisper,"Are you awake?"

"Shut up!" A strong voice boomed, intensifying my headache,"No talking!"

I heard a tsk come from somewhere behind me and soon, my aching body was propped up onto a comfortable chair.

"Don't narrate me as a chair too, please." I heard someone whisper in my ear,"First I'm a wall, now I'm a chair. Be consistent, Hayley."

My eyes widened as much as they could right now as the voice suddenly brought back memories I had just subconsciously lived out.

"Kai?" I was too weak to say anything else however, I managed to let a small smile play on my lips.

"Yeah," He answered,"That's m-"

He was cut off by the same man's voice from earlier,"Shut the HELL UP! EDEI DOESN'T WANT ANY OF YOU TALKING!"

"Yeah and I'm sure she secretly didn't want you to fuck her either. She probably faked having a good time just to get you on her goddamned side." Scarlets scoffed from in front of me.

"What," The man whom I assumed was a guard at this point defended,"I think she enjoyed it..."

"Doubt it," Everyone else, even the other guards sang.

"All she enjoyed was wanting to kill herself while fucking a one-minute-man."

"Listen, kid, shut the hell up. You don't even know what you're talking about."

"Oh, I think I do," Scarlet let out a light laugh, " You don't even seem like the man to be able to give any woman a good time in bed anyway."

"Oh is that right? Maybe I should show you what a good time is."

"Please, I don't want your dirty hands anywhere near me."

Then I heard footsteps coming towards us and stopped right in front of where I was laying on Kai.

"Don't you dare touch her," Kai growled.

The guard just laughed,"Oh don't worry, I'm just going to play a little."

I heard the sound of metal banging against each other moving back, away from me as Scarlet yelled.

"Don't you dare touch me you creep!" She yelled at the top of her lungs making my headache worse. I couldn't handle this. First, the plane she gets beat up by her own mother and now she was going to get beat up by a guard?

"I'm just gonna show you how much fun your mother and I had..." The guard laughed evilly.

Wait, what the fuck? He's gonna rape her? My body went ice-cold and fear crept it's way up into my heart. I needed to be strong enough to protect her at this moment, but I could barely move. My heart began to pound in my chest. I have to do something. I have to do something. I can't let this happen!

"Hey!" Another guard called out, sounding distant from where I was laying,"That's going a bit too far, don't you think?"

"Yeah," Another one said,"She's a kid, man. Have some resp-"

"Shut up!" The main guard yelled once again. His voice echoing through the halls, "She disrespected me! Unlike her mother, I don't play nice games. I like to teach children manners! So Bob and Timmy, go wait outside."

"But si-"

"Outside." He ordered fiercely.

After a couple of seconds, the sound of a door opening and closing was heard with the sound of locking at the end. I opened my eyes and to my relief, it was dark with only one tiny light in the middle of the room. The floor looked soaked as if it just rained which was possible considering the wooden roof which was dripping with water. At least this headache might go away faster if I could focus my eyes in this lighting.

I managed to turn my head to Scarlet who was in shackles pressed up against the wall and clutching onto her clothes for her dear life. A tall, strong looking man wearing a black suit was walking towards her with heavy, slow steps as he started to take off his gloves.

I turned my head to Kai who's face I could see perfectly because, I just learned, I was laying on his lap.

"Kai," I whispered with weakness lacing my words,"H-help S-Scarley..."

He looked down at me with amusement in his eyes,"Who's Scarley?"

I glared at him the best I could at his remark. He knows who I'm talking about! She's about to get raped and all he can say is 'Who's Scarley?'! My heart began to race harder and suddenly I couldn't breathe, my mind began racing and my eyes began to water.

He must've read my expression because the amusement was knocked right out of his eyes and instead an apologetic look took over his face.

"Don't worry." He whispered,"She's got this."

I suddenly lost myself in Kai's eyes which had his regular mischievous glint in them. He winked at me and moved a strand of my hair from my face with a toothy grin.

So, I'm guessing they have a plan.

I looked back over to Scarlet and saw she glanced at Kai for a split second and turned her attention back to the guard. You had to be a unicorn ninja to catch the movement. Luckily, I am exactly that.

"Pl-please don't d-do this..." She begged. All of a sudden she looked down, letting her hair cover her eyes and she looked back up with tears suddenly drowning them. When she looked down, I'm guessing she either has some handy-dandy artificial teardrops that she just happens to carry around or she's a pro at manipulation. I'll go with the latter.

"Haha, too late sweetie." He said as he unbuckled his pants and let them drop to the floor. He undid his tie while continuing to walk. A jingle was heard as the pants fell and hit the floor.

"Got it." Kai muttered under his breath as he looked down at me,"Sorry babe, but I have to put you down for a split second."

I smiled and nodded, understanding. He smiled back at me and took off his jacket which revealed his red wifebeater. Damn, those arms could-

That's inappropriate.

Slowly and carefully he lifted my head off his legs and set it on the jacket he had placed on the ground for me. It was cold without his body heat but his jacket smells exactly like him...

"Hayley?" I heard Kai's voice ask as I found myself staring back up at his eyes as I heard Scarlet beating the life out of the guard.

"W-What happened?" I asked suddenly with more confidence.

"Wow, did you go through a major healing process or something?" Kai asked, his eyes bugging out of their sockets.

"I...I honestly have no clue..." I said trying to prop myself up, and it worked...Amazingly actually.

I blinked.

Kai blinked.

Scarlet stopped beating up the guard and blinked.

And even the guard she was beating up blinked.

Where was all this strength coming from? Not even five minutes ago I could barely speak and now here I am, pulling myself off the floor and standing up while talking in full, complete sentences.

Something's fishy about this...

"Wow..." Kai let out a breathy whisper.

"What the fuuuuuu...." The guard said his eyes were still locked on me which made me feel uncomfortable.

"Okay....?" Scarlet added and finally, my personal favorite.

"I want...Pancakes." I let out.
