Kidnapped By Idiots (Rewritten)

Chapter 18 - This Was the Wrong Time, Man

Scarlet was still violently beating the guard, rightfully so, yelling out profanities as Kai and I looked around for the rest of the crew. There were two doors other than the front which led out of this wet, cold room on either side of us.

Kai thinks: One of them leads to our deaths, the other doesn't. Life or death situation, baby.

I think: One of them leads to Mickey, Peter and Val. The other leads to Jack, Tiger and Weuss. And to be completely honest, Weuss would be the third wheel in that situation.

That brings us to this:

"That door, first." I said firmly as I pointed to the right.

"Nope," Kai argued, popping the 'p' and pointing to the one on the left,"That one. It looks more unique."

"Kai, you only say that because you're left handed." I sigh, dropping my arm as he does the same.

"And you're only saying 'right' because you're right handed."

"Come up with a comeback of your own, don't copy mine and just switch the words."

"I just did, tiger." He sassed making a growling noise to taunt my feistiness, which I'm NOT. I held a disgusted face at the action.

"Tiger is in that door, I'm not him." I threw back again pointing to the right,"But if you miss him so much, maybe we should open that one first."

"How 'bout we just go with my idea? Your plans suck."

I gasped, offended, "When were my ideas bad?"

"Back at the mansion when you decided to walk out with someone random, who I don't even know..Hmm...The time you decided that fruit loops were more important than saving someone's life..."

"Okay, in my defense, those were Apple Jacks, and that whole explosion turned out to be Edei trying to kidnap me anyway!"

He ignored me,"Then on the plane...Oh, the plane...When you thought that it'd be a great idea to--"

I cut him off there,"Okay, okay..I get the point. Let's go with the left."

"Ahem," Scarlet called our attention to her as she stood up from the body she was pounding on, whom I'm sure is dead, and wiping her knife.

Yup.

Dead.

"Why don't you two just go to the door you want to go to?" She asks.

I looked at Kai.

He looked at me.

We both looked back at Scarlet.

Scarlet looked at us.

I looked back at Kai.

Kai looked back at me.

Kai bolted to the left and I bolted to the right, quick as can be. Scarlet stood there stunned by how fast we ran to prove our point.

"I'm sorry..." Scarlet turned to me,"Weren't you just tortured?"

I thought about it for a minute.

"Y-yeah...I don't know how I'm up and running so quickly--"

My mind still felt a little fragile and I forced my memory to remember what could've caused this. I felt my mind experience a lightbulb over my head.

The serum. I concluded in my head.

"It's actually scary, but for right now, I'm trying to focus on helping everyone get out of here safely before I do get weak again if I do.." I explained to her glancing down at the scars on my arms. Wait. Scars? I shouldn't have healed too quickly with the amount of time that passed since she sliced my skin open. I furrowed my brows and decided that it would be simpler if I didn't think of whatever was in my body right now, but after we're all safe.

I looked up at Scarlet to see her nodding, understanding yet hesitant.

"In the meantime, I guess we'll see who won this debate..." I challenged Kai. He was already looking straight at me too with something unreadable on his face, however, once the words fell out of my mouth, he put on his signature smirk.

"Well, I'll remind you that you are not secretary of state." Kai fired back.

I blinked. He's a Hamilton fan?

The leader of the Seven Deadly Sins is a Hamilton fan?

"Alright, on the count of ten..." I told him, going along with his antics.

"One." I started.

"Two." Kai sang with a slightly higher pitch and we continued to sing until we got to ten.

"Three."

"Four."

"Five."

"Six."

"Seven."

"Eight."

"Nine."

We both shouted,"Number ten! Paces Fire!"

We turned the knob and pushed our bodies against it, ready for whatever laid behind the door. Only one problem. They were both locked.

Scarlet rolled her eyes and muttered,"Idiots."

I looked over at Kai to see him doubled over in laughter.

"Why didn't we think of that situation?!" He asked between laugh attacks.

I smiled and walked over to him, with each step I took the butterflies in my stomach went wilder and wilder. I knew what I was about to do, I sure hope that this doesn't ruin anything.

This is the wrong place to do this, honey.

I smiled and finally reached Kai. He sighed down his laughter and looked up at me.

"Oh, what's up Hayley? I see you've joined the left side of the party." He chuckled at his own terrible joke.

I leaned down and sat on my knees in front of his face. He never broke his gaze with mine as he just had on his resting smiling face. I looked deep into his eyes, trying to find answers, to find SOMETHING. How can he be so happy when so many bad things have happened? When right now, we didn't know what to do, we were locked out and if we went the path that the other guards exited from when the main guard forced them out with his voice and yet Kai of course, was still happy.

I cupped his face gently with my right hand and his eyes widened glancing at me, then my right arm. His face scrunched up.

"Is everything done with your right hand?"

I scoffed and switched my hands from my right to my left to cup his face.

"There you go." He said cheerfully and smiled which caused me to look down at his lips. He noticed and he licked his lips out of habit.

"Oh, wow...This is escalating quickly." Kai laughed nervously and looked down at my lips as his eyes darkened if they could anymore.

"Uh, guys....We're basically in a strange room and you two decide to have a lovey dovey moment right now?" Scarlet asks and when we ignore her she once again scoffs,"Idiots."

I smiled and brought my gaze back up to Kai's to tell him what I was about to do.

"I want a pancake," I said for the second time.

His smile grew wider, causing my focus to go back to his lips.

I had to speed this process up, crouching is a difficult task over a long period of time.

I smashed my lips into Kai's without another thought, literally.

I agree with Scarlet, I was kidnapped by idiots and I think I'm starting to become one too.
