Denari groaned as she turned off the alarm on her phone. "Uhh, it can't be time for work already" she huffed as she dragged herself out of bed. She looked at her hair and saw that the tie head that was once on her head was lying comfortably on her white pillow case. "So much for untangled hair" she mumbled as she made her way into her bathroom.
After she came to New York, her brother got her an apartment which was about 45 minutes away from him. He told her that he wanted to know that she was safe at all times even though she thought he was being a little too over protective. She worked as a psychologist at a Moonshine Psychology Center. It wasn't everything she wanted but the pay was good. After all, this was her dream job it just wasn't her dream workplace. She decided to wear a pink floral dress with a white cardigan and a pair of silver heels and her white handbag.
After she was dressed, she went to her kitchen and made a cup of hot chocolate. Before her lips could touch her mug, her phone rang. She immediately groaned in frustration when she saw that it was her boss calling her. "Hello good morning" she answered. "Why are you not here yet? I thought we discussed last evening that you need to be here because we have a very important client here" her boss scolded. "I'm on my way Ms. Willows. I will be there and I haven't forgotten" she said. "I don't care just get here" she said before abruptly ending the call.
"So much for wishing for a good day" she said sarcastically as she continued drinking her tea. After she was done, she went downstairs to the parking lot and opened her white Audi R5. She then drove off and headed straight for the place where she wished she never had to. She liked working from home because she didn't have to see her boss directly because she was a pain in the ass. When she got there, Ms. Willows made her way towards Denari who was just getting out of her car.
"Would you hurry?" Ms. Willows said. "Good morning to you too" Denari said sarcastically. "Would you stop with the sass and get your ass inside?" Ms. Willows said. "You need to stop talking to me like I am your damn child and you need to get your ass inside because I don't know who told you that outfit looked good on you" Denari snapped before she casually walked towards the entrance while Ms. Willows stood there in embarrassment.
As Denari approached her desk, her co-worker David, came up to her. "Hey Dave" she smiled. "Wassup chica?" he answered. "Well, I just had to tell off our boss because she was being a pain in my ass" Denari said as David laughed. "We all know that she is a pain in the ass. Like a thorn in your side that you're stuck with for a while" David said as Denari lightly chuckled as she prepared for her session with her client. All of a sudden, a hand made its way on her desk. "Morning, Mr. Collins wants to see you" Melanie who was another co-worker said to Denari.
Melanie was like the mean girl of the company and she never failed to make anyone forget who she was. But today, Denari wasn't having any of it. "What is your problem? Don't you see that I was writing and you just had to slam your hand on my desk?" Denari said angrily. "Calm down hun, anyways as I said, Me. Collins wants to see you" she said before walking away. Denari sighed as she got up and made her way up to the CEO's floor. "Good morning sir, you called me?" Denari said.
"Yes, I would like you to meet our new client, Mr. Carter" and with that Denari froze seeing that it was Malik who was Jayden's best friend. She had a crush on him from when she first moved here and boy did he know that. "Ah, Ms. Harris, it's so nice to finally meet you" he said with a smirk on his lips. "Really is that so?" she said while plastering a smile on her face. "Well Mr. Carter here says that he needs a psychologist to work for him at his company you know to help with the marketing" Mr. Collins stated.
*Wow, that's nice but I don't see how I am fitting in here. I mean I am a psychologist but I never specialized in marketing" Denari said. "Well Ms. Harris, there's no need to worry because you will be fine plus, you can bring your skills to the rest of us and we both put in our ideas. We just need someone who knows how to study the human mind" Malik said. As much as Denari didn't want to do this, she knew that Malik was making a lot of sense.
"Okay, I will do it but I need to know if it will be like a job or just voluntary work and if it's going to be full time or part time and when will all of this begin" she stated. "Mr. Carter? You want to take this one?" Mr. Collins asked. "Sure. Yes, you will get paid and yes it will be full time until after 2 weeks time and you start tomorrow. I will let my assistant get in touch with you. As a matter of fact, why don't we head down to the company and check it out?" Malik asked.
"I guess that could work but I need permission from my boss first" Denari said. "Oh sure go ahead" Mr. Collins said as Denari got her things and followed behind Malik. He waited on her to get her things from her desk and they both went to the parking lot. "What the hell was that? And why didn't you tell me that you are my big client?" Denari whispered angrily. "Can we discuss this at my place?" he asked. "Excuse me?" she scoffed. "I am not going to your house" she said. "Really? Is that so? I thought you wanted to know how my bed would feel and how much you wanted me to make you c-" she cut him off.
"Alright fine. I will go just don't finish what you were going to say" she said as he let out a soft chuckle. They both hopped into their separate vehicles and headed towards Malik's house. Denari was amazed when they got to his house. "Wow, this place is huge and it's nice too" Denari said in awe. "Yes it is. Anyways, you want a drink?" he asked. "Water is fine" she said. "I didn't want to tell you that I was big client because I knew you wouldn't agree to my offer and you are the best person for the job" he explained.
"I see" she said. "Anyways, you coming to the party that Deshaun's throwing?" he asked. "Yeah, Lia asked me well, demanded that I come along with Jaz and Tia" Denari answered. "Okay well I have to get back to work but you can go home" he said as Denari stared at him confused. "Didn't you just tell my boss that you were going to give me a tour?" she asked. Malik chuckled as her turned around to face her. "So you want to go back to work?" he asked. "No not really" she said as he let out a soft laugh. "Then there you have it. You can go home and I will see you tomorrow at 8 a.m." he said as they both headed towards the door.
