Chapter 8

It has been a month since Denari's family found out about James' doing and Kira filed for divorce and he is no longer welcomed at the Harris household plus he had been taken into custody for further questions regarding Denari. In a way Denari was sad because she knew how much her aunt loved James but she knew that she wouldn't choose him over her family and that was something she respected. She knew that her aunt could've believed her husband and make it seem as if Denari was lying but Kira loved her niece and she made sure that she knew that.

Denari had started working at Gold Keystone Marketing with Malik and she really enjoyed working there. Not only was the pay better, but the working environment was great. "Heyy" Jazmine said as Denari sat down at the she was sitting at in Wendy's. "Hey" she smiled. "So, how is work so far?" she asked with a smirk. "Don't look like that. It's going great" Denari said. "Oh really? I see" Jazmine said still smirking. "Whatever. Anyways, what are you doing Saturday night?" Denari asked. "I have to work on a project that has to be sent in for Monday" Jazmine said. "Oh okay. Well I guess I'll just order some pizza and chill out" Denari said.

"I'm sorry hun but I am really busy lately plus, I haven't been feeling well" Jazmine said. "What do you mean? Are you running a temperature? Do you feel fluish?" Denari asked. "No, and calm down ma. I just feel tired lately and my stomach has just been upset for days" Jazmine replied. "Have you gone to the doctor?" Denari asked. "No but my mom said that I should" she said. "Okay, let's do it tomorrow since I don't have to come in for work before 11:30 a.m." Denari said. Jazmine wasn't sure if she was pregnant or not and she really didn't want Denari to find out this way but she had to figure out how to delay Denari from finding out that she had been seeing Jayden.

The next day as promised, Denari took Jazmine to the doctor. "Ms. Davis?" the doctor called. Denari and Jazmine quickly made their way to the room where the doctor led them. "Good morning ladies. My name is Doctor Hernandez and what seems to be the problem?" he asked. "Well doctor, my friend has been complaining about being fatigue and has been throwing up a lot recently" Denari said. "Okay, I see. Ms. Davis, I'm going to need you to do a urine test and bring it back to me so that it can be tested and we can find out what's wrong with you" doctor Hernandez said before Jazmine went to pee in the little plastic container.

"I'm done" Jazmine said as she carefully brought back the container to the doctor. "Alright. You guys can wait outside until the tests are ready" doctor Hernandez said before the girls went back out to the waiting room. "I hope nothing too serious is wrong" Denari said. "Yeah, me too" Jazmine said. She didn't know how to tell Denari that she was going to be an aunt if the test came back and said that she was. After a few minutes, doctor Hernandez called them back into his office. "Okay Ms. Davis. The results from the test shows that you're pregnant. Congratulations" he said as Denari sat looking at doctor Hernandez in shock. "Are you okay?" he said as Denari nodded her head.

"Come on" Jazmine said before they got up and went out to the car. "You're pregnant? I didn't even know you were seeing someone" Denari said a little disappointed. "I'm sorry but I honestly didn't know that I was" Jazmine defended as Denari started her car. "Well, do you at least know who the father is?" Denari asked and Jazmine started to sweat. "Do you?" Denari repeated. "Yeah, I do" Jazmine said. "So are you going to tell him?" Denari asked. "Yeah, I mean I have to tell him at some point" Jazmine said. "So when are we gonna meet him?" Denari asked as Jazmine chocked on her spit.

"You good?" Denari asked concerned. "Yeah, I'm good. I just don't know when I am going to let you guys meet him" she said even though she knew that it was Denari's brother's child. "Okay well, I just can't wait to meet him" Denari said with glee. After Denari dropped Jazmine home, she headed straight for work. On her way she thought about when she would be able to start a family of her own too. She felt a little jealous of her friends having normal lives while she was suffering on the inside. She wanted to have someone to love too but it was so difficult. "Good morning Ms. Harris" her co-worker Alan greeted. "Good morning Mr. Barnes. How may I help you?" she smiled politely. "I was wondering if you would like to go out some time" he said nervously. Denari smiled and thought that the only way to move on from the past is to push past it and try again. "Sure, I would love to Alan" she smiled.

"Thanks. I'll pick you up at seven Saturday night" he smiled. Denari knew that he was handsome and sweet although he was a nerd, she like how generous and kind he was. And his awkwardness was cute. Denari then made her way to Malik's office. "Hey, you're in a good mood today" Malik said as he noticed how she was smiling. "Yeah, I have a date this Saturday" Denari said. "A date? With who?" Malik asked. "With Alan. He's sweet and caring and he makes me feel wanted you know?" Denari said. Malik suddenly felt jealous but he knew what she was going through so he decided not to say anything. If he made her happy, he was happy. "I get you. I just want you to be safe" Malik said. What he really wanted to say was that he was the one who wanted her to be safe in his arms.

"Anyways, I just came to check up on you and just tell you the good news" Denari said. "Okay, have fun" he said as Denari smiled at him before walking out of his office. When it was lunch time, Denari went to meet the girls at their usual spot at Wendy's. "Heyyyy" Denari said as she walked in. "Hey wassup?" Tiara greeted. "I have something to tell y'all" Denari said excitedly. "You and Malik finally did the do?" Laila asked as she wiggled her eyebrows. Denari blushed and shook her head rapidly. "No, why would you ask such a question?" Denari asked still flustered. "Then what is it?" Jazmine asked. "I have a date this Saturday" Denari announced.

"Shut up" Laila said shocked. "Wait, are you serious?" Tiara asked. "Yes I am. I thought that it was time to get back out there and not let my past come in the way of my happiness" Denari said. "Oh my gosh, I'm so happy honey" Jazmine squealed. "Thanks boo. Anyways, how is the baby?" Denari asked. "About that. I need to tell you guys something" Jazmine said. "What is it?" Tiara asked. "The baby's daddy is Jayden" Jazmine said. Denari froze at the revelation. She couldn't believe it. Why would Jazmine want to hide the fact that she's seeing her brother. "So why did you keep it a secret? You could've just told me" Denari said disappointed.

"I'm sorry I just didn't know how you would've reacted" Jazmine apologized. "I'm not a monster Jazmine" Denari said. "But, it's already gone and there's nothing that can be done now but I hope that he will treat you well because I will end him" Denari said as Jazmine smiled. "Okay, so I have to get back to work now so I will see you ladies later" Tiara said before she got up. "Yeah, we are heading back to work as well" Laila said before the other three got up. After they all said their goodbyes, they went their separate ways.
