Chapter 6

It was now night time and Denari now discovered that she had a huge bruise on her cheek and it wasn't looking pretty. "Hey" she said to Malik who was still upset. "Hey" he said. "You don't need to be upset you know" Denari told him. "I don't? The man raped you and sexually molested you and to make things worse, he threatened you and slapped you in your face and you think I'm gonna sit around and watch him do this to you?" Malik said now yelling. "It's not your battle okay?" Denari said now crying because she was hurt that he shouted at her. "I can't believe this. You finally have someone in your corner and you are literally pushing them away. I don't want what happened to you already to happen again or even worse things. I swear, I will kill him if he lays his hand on you again and I don't give a fuck about who, what, where or when. I care about you Denari, I really do and I will protect you at any cost" Malik said as he wrapped her in his arms.

Denari leaned into him as he consoled her. "Anyways, it's time for bed and you need some rest" Malik said before he headed towards the door. "Don't go. Remember what I asked?" Denari said with her breath shaky. "Yes baby girl, I remember. I was only getting my things" he said before going out. All of a sudden, the door opened to reveal a mischievous James. "What are you doing here?" Denari asked scared. "You think you can make me jealous? All you had to do was ask" he said as he came closer. She got out of the bed and tried to run towards the bathroom but he caught her. "Let me go" she demanded. "You better not scream" he warned.

"I said let me go" she said as she stepped on his toes. "You bitch" he hissed as he pushed her into the wall. "Get off me!" she yelled. "I told you not to scream" he said as he wrapped his hand around her throat. "I told you what wou-" he was cut off by Deshaun hitting him over the head with a book that was on the dresser. Denari coughed as she tried to catch her breath. "You good?" Deshaun asked. "No, I hurt my ankle" Denari hissed in pain as she tried to walk towards Deshaun. "Let me help you" he said as he lifted her up and brought her to Jayden's room. "What happened?" Jazmine asked frantically. "I saw Jay's uncle holding her throat. "What?" Jayden asked angrily.

"What's going on here?" Tiara asked then suddenly gasped when she saw a crying Denari. "Oh baby, what happened?" she asked. "I asked Malik to stay with me because" she paused when she saw Malik. Everyone's attention was now on Malik and Denari. Only a fool would be blind enough not to see the chemistry between the two. Tavon and Laila weren't far behind when they came and felt the tension too. "What's going on here?" Tavon asked confused. "I want to know the same thing too" Jayden asked. "What do you mean?" Denari asked. "Why is Malik staying in your room all of a sudden?" he asked. "Jay just give her some space" Malik said.

"Don't pass your place okay? She's my little sister and you don't need to say anything on her behalf" Jayden spat. "So you're upset because she asked me to stay with her?" Malik asked in disbelief. "Come on guys, let's not do this here" Deshaun said trying to break the tension between the two. "What happened to Denari?" Malik asked. "That doesn't concern you" Jayden said. "And why is that?" Malik asked. "Because she isn't your concern" he said. "And how are you so sure about that? And I am not going to ask again, what the hell happened to Denari?" he asked getting upset. "James attacked her and hurt her ankle" Deshaun said.

Malik then made his way over to the room as he noticed how the room was in a mess. He was furious. James hurt his girl although she wasn't his officially, he considered her to be his. "Malik, please let's not do this now" Denari begged. "I told you if he hurt you again I would kill him" Malik said angrily. "Again? What does he mean by again?" Jayden asked. "He uh, he- he raped me then continued to sexually molest me until I was 18" Denari said with tears running down her face. "So you knew?" Jayden asked Malik. "Yeah, she told me and it was confidential. It's not something that you walk around and advertise" Malik said. "But I am her brother" Jayden said.

"So? She would've been the one to tell you because it's not my place" Malik said. Jayden stopped arguing because he knew Malik was right. "Why didn't you say something?" Jayden asked. "I was afraid" Denari said. "Babe, you don't have to be afraid to tell us what's wrong. We're here for you. Always remember that" Jazmine said as she hugged Denari. "Thanks guys for listening. I really appreciate it" Denari said. "You're parents and aunty need to know what happened" Laila said. "No" Denari replied almost instantly. "No?" Laila scoffed. "What do you mean by no?" she asked.

"He threatened that he would kill me of anyone found out" Denari said. "He will not do that because I won't let it happen" Malik said. "Malik, you don't have to do that" Denari said. "No, you asked me to protect you and that's what I am doing" Malik said. "We need a plan though. We don't want to embarrass your aunt though but she needs to hear this. Any suggestions?" Tiara said. "I have one" Jazmine said. "Go on" Tiara said. "Well, what we could do is tell them in a private way. And before you ask how, just say that it is between immediate family members of Denari and Jayden. Specifically Ciara, Richard, Kira and James. After we have them, we tell them what happened and the guys will make sure that James doesn't run off and we will handle Kira because obviously she will be devastated" Jazmine said.

"That's a good idea. I think we should go with Jaz's plan" Tavon said. "Yeah, it does sound like a really good plan" Tiara added. "Okay so it's settled. Tomorrow is the grand day. Rest up people because tomorrow will be full of surprises" Laila said. Denari knew that tomorrow would not end well.
