3 months later
Today was Malik's and Denari's 1st anniversary. This officially marked 1 full year of being together. Denari always dreamed of waking up to someone who would love and treat her well but it wasn't today. She was ready to move in with him but Malik wasn't on the same path as Denari.
"Hey babe" she smiled as he rolled over on the bed. He spent the night at her apartment since they went out the previous night. "Hey, baby girl" he smiled. "Happy Anniversary" she smiled. She then reached over to her side table and handed him a box. "What's this?" he asked. "Open it," she said.
The box revealed a brand new silver Rolex Watch. "Babe, where the hell did you get this?" he asked surprised. "Don't worry about that. Just know that I saw it and thought of you" she smiled. "Ahh, thanks baby girl," he said before engulfing her into a tight hug. "I have your present ready and waiting," he said. "What is it?" she asked. "Here," he said as he handed her a tiny decorated box.
She opened the box only to reveal a key. "A key?" she asked rather disappointed. "It's not just any key" he said. "Then what is it then?" she asked. "It's time you upgrade to something more in your league," he said. "I don't understand" she said. "You finally have a place to call your own" he said. "What?" she asked confused. "Remember that apartment that you said you liked?" he asked as Denari stared at him in shock.
"No way. You didn't" she said as she felt the tears welling up in her eyes. "Yes, I did. You are my queen and you have been for a while and I now have a reason to gift you. Plus, the apartment that you now occupy isn't something I want my girl to live in" he said. "Babe, this is crazy. I mean, you bought me a new apartment?" she said. "Yes, now come on. I arranged for your stuff to be moved into your apartment by Wednesday" he said.
"Wow, okay. Well let me just say thank you for your kind gesture" she smiled. "You're welcome baby girl. Now I have to go and prepare for another day of work" he said. "Can't you stay with me today?" she pleaded. "I'm sorry baby girl but I can't. And you need to be in around the same time as me so get yourself together" he said.
"I can't wait until it's Christmas so that at least we can spend sometime together" she said. "About that, I am actually going to go to be in Maryland for Christmas" he said. "Maryland? Why?" she asked. "Because mom and dad are having their Christmas party and I have to be there" he said. "Oh, I am actually going to be going to be here with my parents so I guess we might not see eachother for Christmas then" she said disappointed.
"I'm sorry baby girl, but I wish I could stay with you" he said as he kissed her forehead. "Well, will you be here for New Year's?" she asked. "Yeah, I will be back by then" he said. "Great" she said. "We can always go on dates and stuff as well so don't seem so sad. It's just 2 days" he said. "I know but, I miss you all the time and let's face it, I won't be working with your company forever and you know that. I might have to move to a different state or even a different country and I can't handle not being able to see you or just be with you" she said sadly.
When that bridge comes, we can cross it. As for now, we need to focus on us" he smiled before he kissed her forehead. "Anyways, I'm on babysitting duty because Jazmine and Jayden are supposed to be going out with her parents" she said. "Okay, I will be in and out because work has got me in a frenzy but you know I got you" he smiled before kissing her lips. "I know you do" she smiled.
A few minutes later, she got a call from Jazmine saying that Jaylah is all packed up and ready to spend the day with her aunty. "You coming with me to pick her up or you at work?" she asked. "Yeah, I can come" he said as they both headed downstairs to the parking lot. They got into her car and headed towards Jayden's house. "Heeyy" Denari greeted her niece and her future sister.
"Hey hun" she smiled. "Who's ready for a day with aunty Nari and uncle Mal?" Denari cooed as Jaylah reached for her face. "Here's her bag with everything she needs for the day until we are back to get her later" Jazmine said. "Great. So I guess I will see you two later" she said with a smirk before leaving with the baby. "Do you wanna grab something to eat?" Denari asked Malik as he was busy fixing the car seat.
"Yeah, we could do that" he said before closing the door and hoping in the front seat. They then stopped at Wendy's and got two sandwiches and headed back to her apartment. "You know I was thinking about moving from New York" Denari spoke randomly. "Really? Why?" he asked. "Because it's expensive plus, I barely get a chance to get some peace and quiet and I just miss home and miss the togetherness of family" she explained.
"Well, I've always thought of moving myself but you know I got Tavon here and I don't wanna leave him out here all by himself and then I got work to think about" he said. "I know all of this is true but, I mean you got to be open to possibilities right?" she said. "Yeah, I mean nothing is wrong with that but at the same time you have to look at it in relation to what your reality is" he said.
She knew he had a point but she also wanted what was best for her and also what was best for him. "Well it is a good thing that you will be moving from this side into a more fitting apartment" he said. "Yeah" Denari said. This was going to be one hell of a new life for Denari.
Hey guys. I know this chapter was a bit short and kinda boring but bare with me. Stay tuned.
