Author's Note: The plot of the Spiral Games Era kind of changes the Fever Code one. The things that happen in the Fever Code happen in this Era, such as the Purge and Teresa, Aris, Rachel and Thomas's involvement in the Maze, but there're more groups, all the kids know about the different groups and their subject numbers, but they don't know what they mean, they just think it's organizing, and the groups all meet up in the Maintenance room, but not everyone in the Group mainly just a few dorms from each group, and each dorm contains three to six people.
"He isn't back yet."
As soon as the words left Sonya's lips, it was a conformation to Emily. Her brother was really gone, and she had the sick feeling it wasn't just a normal bloody testing, like Teresa had hurriedly pulled her aside in lunch to explain that that was what Chancellor Ava Paige told her it was.
She was sat in her dorm room, on the bottom bunk bed right below hers, which was usually occupied by her brother. He'd picked it strictly to be closer to her, and she'd never complained about it, but adamantly said she should always have the top bunk, since she was a year older, and in her opinion, more worthy.
River probably would've let her have it anyway. That was just how he was.
It felt empty without him, and Emily had a weird tugging feeling that her brother was in trouble.
Supposed they'd- they'd found out?
Emily suppressed the worrying thought.
She glanced up at Sonya, who looked the same as ever, in the usual plain shirts WICKED supplied them with and the usual jeans, no purposeful rips or holes, no adjustments, not much individuality at all, her hair lazily braided, blonde feathery locks escaping the style, and her soft brown eyes staring at Emily.
"Do you wanna go to the others, or do you want to wait until he gets back?" Sonya asked, her British accent already fading into American, unlike her brothers, Emily's and River's.
Emily gave her a weak grin and said, "Nah, I'll go with you. It's kind of unlikely that they'll turn up in the middle of the night with my brother. And anyway, River would try to not let them know that we weren't in here."
Sonya nodded thoughtfully. "Let's go then," she said, and smiled brightly as she got up, and Emily stood as well, glancing thoughtfully at herself in the bathroom mirror as she passed the door of the bathroom.
Emily herself also looked the same as always, which turned Emily's stomach. She had the same long sleek blonde hair, undone from it's usual barbie girl style ponytail the long shiny locks tumbling past her shoulders, the same broad shoulders and proud posture, the same forehead, the same dark green eyes that were flecked with hazel patches. Shouldn't she look different? Feel different? It wasn't a comforting thought that something so little as her brother being gone for around fourty hours concerned her so much that she felt like her world was rapidly changing, and was this discomforted by everything being horribly familiar.
Sonya edged her on, and as they quietly crept through WICKED's quiet hallways to the maintenance room the kids of WICKED usually met up in.
As soon as they got there, a younger, dark haired, tall boy came rushing over, fiercely enveloping Emily into a hug- which she usually would've protested against, but now she accepted warmly- and drew back, his gaze falling onto Sonya, before saying, "Newt's here, by the way, he won't tell us where he went last..." he trailed off hopelessly as Sonya, with a huff, pushed through the gaggle of children to find her older brother, who was the same age as Emily, thirteen.
The group that met up in the maintenance room was mainly kids from group A and B. Their were a few from group c and a fair amount from group d.
The twelve year old boy smiled sympathetically at his best friend, and asked, "I assume Riv's not back? None of the other kids are."
